If you don't know how to have a career in music, this book gives you Strategy, Tactics, and most of all, HOPE!!! BUY IT NOW.
To have a successful career in music, you need three things: Product (your music and merchandise), Service (your live show), and Marketing (without which you are certain to fail). There are countless books out there on the subject of music marketing, and let me tell you, I have consumed many. THIS BOOK IS ALL YOU NEED. Over 700 pages - you could have a team of minions working full-time carrying out all the ideas, tips, and tricks that are in this book. That's why it's so great! EVERYTHING you need is in ONE place - THIS BOOK. For YEARS to come. I promise you, it is that comprehensive. Breadth, Depth, and Clinical Application. It is ALL here, with no B.S. These are strategies and tactics that are being used on a daily basis in the real world.Feeling overwhelmed? So was I. Here's what you should do: get out your yellow highlighter, red ink pen, and pencil, and read through the entire book once. Get ready to take notes in the margins, in the front and back pages of the book, maybe start a document with your ideas. THEN, go back, after reading the ENTIRE book, and re-read your highlighted and underlined parts. That's when you start crafting your overall Music Marketing Strategy. The reason it's necessary to cover everything, is because you want to have a holistic, comprehensive music marketing plan. And you can't do that if you haven't covered all the different aspects that are possible. In fact, skipping some chapters may lead you to do things that might be unnecessary or irrelevant if you haven't covered the entire book first. "Figuring out how to combine everything is what makes your personal strategy your own sculpture" (page 20).Not only does this book show and tell you how to build your fan base, it also gives you HOPE. If you don't know what you're doing, or maybe you THINK you know what to do, I promise you, this book will become your new BIBLE of go-to information. It gives you HOPE because you see that there are so many avenues to reach people, that have been proven to work, after a while you will start to think, "wow, even if I just do SOME of these things, I should get some results". It will truly open your eyes to all of the amazing things that are possible, if you just put in the work. And I would daresay that you can probably think of musicians in the marketplace who might not have the best music, but they just had great marketing. What if you have both?Do yourself a favor. BUY THIS BOOK, READ IT, AND IMPLEMENT.

Possibly the most essential tool to understanding how to promote your music
Get More Fans is much more than its title suggests. It’s a book of marketing and creative philosophy, and the most comprehensive I’ve come across (and I’ve come across a few). Rather than promising shortcuts to success or making guarantees a mere book is under no obligation to deliver, Get More Fans embraces that THIS IS GOING TO BE LONG, HARD WORK IF YOU WANT THE BEST ODDS OF WINNING, then goes into explicit detail about what that work entails from one day to the next, for the rest of your presumptive career (to a point). Aiming advice and instruction for those truly starting from scratch all the way to early success on a mass scale, Get More Fans truly feels agenda-free and authoritative in ways only its career-informed authors can deliver. Step one to your success in the music world? Read this book. At least twice. Then make it your daily work bible. It also serves as an index of every free-to-low-cost service discussed within. Cheers.

A NECESSITY for independent bands and artists of any genre of music
As a regular listener of Jesse's music business/tech podcast with Zack Zarrillo, "Off The Record," I was tempted every couple of episodes or so to buy the book, being led to believe it was a good guideline for someone like me who was having trouble expanding their fan base. I eventually caved and bought the e-book and thought at the very least it would be a refresher course of things I already knew.In reality, the things I have since learned from reading the book have drastically changed my approach and overall view of marketing my music, and it has worked!"Get More Fans" is definitely not just a one time read-through type of book, more of a reference guide and road map for anyone taking part in the sometimes overwhelming world of marketing a band.Even if you have never done anything in the realm of booking shows, ordering merch, or uploading songs to Bandcamp for free download (in exchange for an e-mail address and zip code of course,) Jesse makes it easy enough to understand that no previous experience is necessary to take advantage of what "Get More Fans" has to offer.I would highly recommend this guide to anyone that is already in a local or regional touring band and is experiencing the "plateau effect" of growing your fan base, anyone that is thinking about starting a band, or anyone interested in diving into the world of independent artist management.

Buy This Book and thank yourself later.....
Buy this Book, don't think about it, just buy it and you WILL thank yourself later. I don't write many reviews, but this book is full of wisdom and insight about how you should approach all aspects of your music career (and all your business in general), that it would be a dis-service for me not to write about it. First off, I have been purchasing "music business books" since 1994 and while I always gained a nugget or two of knowledge from them, I have never read a book that presented an entire "roadmap" for music business success. I have purchased all the books you see here on amazon from "Hack Your Hit" to "Future Hit DNA" and while those books are helpful, they don't compare to the 40+ chapters (600 pages!) that encompasses what you get here. This book will not only help you gain and attract fans on sites like Twitter and Facebook, but offer you with a philosophy on HOW to gain and attract these fans. It will also give you a list of about 100 other social networks and other sites that you probably never knew about and HOW to go about utilizing them successfully. It also will teach you how to get your songs licensed, how to prepare for the studio, how to get on tour and about everything else you would need to know about the modern music industry (along with a plethora of contacts to get you started, and how to use them). In my opinion this is the complete MUSIC BIBLE for DIY musicians. BUY IT
