Ignore negative ratings! Works perfectly, but you need to know what you're doing.
I'm speculating a bit, but I suspect that the people who gave this product a negative review didn't invest the time researching how to transfer gasses between cylinders properly.I have a kegerator that came with a 5# CO2 tank. Rather than pay ~$25 to have it refilled each time it ran out, I finally decided to upgrade to a 20# tank that I can exchange at my local welding supply shop for $37 (they also stock food grade CO2 . . . unlike the place I was having it filled at). Worked out great! However, I still wanted to be able to use my 5# tank when I serve beer away from my kegerator. It's also convenient for homebrewing applications (flushing out siphon lines, kegs, etc.). Problem was, I still didn't want to pay 3X what I was paying for the CO2 in the 20# tank that I got from my local welding supply shop. This product is the perfect solution! The 20# tank is designed to provide CO2 gas (not liquid) so it doesn't have a dip tube in it. In order to transfer liquid CO2 to my 5# tank, I had to invert the 20# one (so the liquid CO2 was at the valve instead at the bottom of the tank). There are no instructions with this transfer hose, but the steps are easily found online (along with appropriate warnings). The steps I used were:- Put the 5# tank in the freezer overnight- Connect the 20# and 5# tanks to the transfer hose, with the needle valve closest to the 5# tank- While wearing a good pair of gloves, open the valve on the 20# tank- Open the needle valve on the transfer hose, flushing the transfer hose with CO2 gas- Close the needle valve and invert the 20# tank- Slowly open the valve on the 5# tank and listen to it fill!A small scale is useful to monitor how much CO2 you're adding to the empty tank. There are sites that warn about the dangers of over filling. I don't know how legitimate they are, but I'd rather not go there!I just used the transfer hose for the first time a few minutes ago and it worked so well that I had to write a review! Not counting the convenience of being able to do this myself instead of driving 10 miles and waiting around for ~15 minutes to get my 5# tank filled, this thing will pay for itself in ~3 fillings!

Works exactly as described
Just follow the instructions, including wearing gloves!I chilled a 2.5# tank, warmed a 5# tank and it easily transferred 2#.

Easy to use transfer hose. Could use a rotating union fitting.
I bought this to transfer liquid CO2 from a 150lb tank to a fire extinguisher that was being used in a stage production. The hose works great and as advertised. When attaching it to the smaller tank the fitting doesn’t rotate though, so you have to twist the hose in the opposite direction before attaching it or you end up with a twisted mess the other way. Other than that; just what I needed.

Works
Bought to transfer from 20lb syphon CO2 tank to 5lb tanks. Without chilling, I got a surprisingly fast transfer of 3.5-4 lbs.Purge worked OK. A little slow for purging a tank, but perfectly cromulent for purging the tubing. (Purged with gas, not liquid.)

Brewer fills 5lb tank from 20lb tank
I have used this 3 times and so far so good! Here are my step by step instructions:1. Chill the 5 lb tank (I put it in my kegerator for a day or two)2. Warm the 20 lb tank (I leave it in direct sunlight on a warm day)3. Connect the hose to both tanks:3a. Thread onto tanks hand tight with bleeder screw closer to 5lb tank.3b. Don’t forget the gaskets in both ends!3c. Tighten with 12” adjustable wrench (it doesn’t take much, just a little past hand tight)4. Open valve on the 20lb tank and make sure there aren’t any leaks5. FLIP YOUR 20LB TANK UPSIDE-DOWN (my tank, like most standard tanks, doesn’t have the internal dip tube. Flipping it allows me to transfer the liquid CO2 we want)6. Open the bleeder screw on the hose until liquid comes out then close it (this purges air from the hose)7. Open the valve on the 5lb tank (this fills the tank with liquid CO2 and doesn’t take very long)8. Close the valves on both tanks9. Open the bleeder screw to empty the hose then close it10. Use wrench to break free the nuts from both tanks then spin them off by hand11. You are done!Side note: after you fill it, if your 5lb tank was brand new and/or empty you should stand it upright for a minute then open the valve and bleed it a bit. CO2 is heavier than air so you can purge it off the top before using your tank. (Just like you would purge air from your keg)The first 2 steps aren’t essential BUT it is the difference between filling your tank with 3lbs of gas and filling it with 4+ lbs of gas. I know this because I tried it both ways and weighed it before and after both times.I am pretty sure I got some or all of these steps from another review so shoutout to that helpful person!

No instructions. Doesn't seem to work
Didn't come with any instructions and couldn't find anything online for this exact one. Hooked it up to a full 20# and an empty 5#, opened them both up, and....nothing. If I don't hear back from the vendor I'll probably return it.

Good price for a decent transfill hose
I've used this for about a month and it's super handy. The hose is a little narrow for my liking but nothing too ridiculous. It's about the same diameter as the orifice in the valves. I don't believe that it restricts the flow of liquid. However, I feel that the flow rate could be faster. Again, for the price I really can't complain. It makes a huge difference to place the empty tank in the freezer first. That prevents the CO2 from totally flashing off as it enters the empty tank. Make sure that you are filling with a scale. Smaller tanks that are over filled by even a half pound will blow the safety, especially in the summer. I filled cylinders at a plant for six years, and am just sharing knowledge.

I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly
This performed exactly as advertised. I followed the instructions posted by the seller and several buyers from their reviews when transferring from a 20lb co2 cylinder to a 5lb cylinder.
