One of my favorite backcountry meals!
So my all time favorite is the Chicken Pad Thai from Backpacker's pantry - IT IS SO GOOD! But honestly this is just as good, it just doesn't have the chicken.I love these because they have these sauces and toppings you can add that are all included in the bag and it makes me feel fancy when I'm out on the trail haha. But seriously, these are delicious and VERY filling. My husband and I usually split one. I put mine into a little insulated coozie bag things so it stays hot while soaking, also usually soak a little bit longer than it says. Highly advise mixing it once or twice while soaking, it seems to blend the flavors better, prevents powdery chunks on the bottom, and helps to evenly hydrate everything.

So yeah, this is pretty dang good...
Bought a bunch of vegan meals for our last backpacking trip (it's awesome to see the improved variety they have these days), and this one was easily our favorite. Delicious flavor, a little spice, decent portion, and passable texture (always the bane of freeze-dried meals). Definitely one of our new staples.

Good, different, vegetarian and SUPER EASY
It is good - not great, but good for something different, and I love that it is vegetarian. The taste is comparable to the average frozen meals you can buy in the grocery store. It is not quite as good as Mountain House (at least not this flavor) but it is vegetarian and has a higher protein content. It says that it is spicy, but it is not really that spicy. It also has some vinegar in it, which I wish it didn't. However, it does have enough other seasoning to make up for the vinegar and lack of hot spice, and it is at least not bland. How authentic the "pad thai" flavor is I don't know. But authenticity aside, it is pretty good for freeze dried food that can be cooked and eaten directly from the pouch. This brings me to another point - how easy it is. Open up peanut butter packet and mix in the bag with the other ingredients, add hot water, stir, wait 15 minutes and eat right out of the bag. No prep, no cleanup, just a bag to throw away when you are done. For this it deserves some credit. I am actually using some of these at work where I can just pour hot water from the water dispenser. It is a convenient office meal when you don't have time to eat out or prepare lunch ahead of time.Overall, this is a good product and I will buy it again. The taste is decent, although not really spicy, it is vegetarian and has better nutritional value than most other backpacking foods. And regardless of authenticity, it provides something different than the same old mac and cheese, chicken, beef or chicken and beef flavor typical of the other brands.TIP: add less water at first, especially if you don't have a way to measure 540 mL, then more can be added if needed and that way you can avoid having a watery or diluted meal. Also, eat less of this and have a yogurt cup, protein drink or protein bar to cut back on the carbs and make more meals out of it.

I heard this was the best (vegetarian) flavor. It is.
This is pretty bangin’ pad Thai for freeze dried meal. I bought like 10 of em because I will not be upset if I have to eat this for several days straight. It actually tastes like pad Thai, good pad Thai. There are joints near my house I’ve ordered pad Thai from and it hasn’t been as good as this (maybe that’s saying more about my local offerings than the product here but still). I work a lot and am recently back after destroying my dominant wrist and my partner is disabled in her dominant hand so this is a quick and low effort yet satisfying meal solution that I can whip up for us easily on those days when we’re both just exhausted. Was stoked to find a tasty vegetarian option for freeze dried / quick shelf stable meals.

Good taste. Decent texture. Will eat again
Tried another Backpacker’s Pantry tonight... Pad Thai! It was really good. We added about 1/4 of the spice pack and all of the lime pack. It was REALLY Spicy for me and not spicy for my spicy-loving husband. Probably a moderate level of spice for the average American. The whole lime pack was just a little bit too much lime. Texture wasn’t like fresh made Pad Thai, a little bit mushy but it didn’t take away from the flavor. It wasn’t salty at all which was a pleasant surprise for survival style food.Easy to make just like the Kathmandu Curry and Cuban Coconut Rice & Black Beans. I’d rate my second favorite with the Curry first so far. I bought a few more so more details to come!!$14.95 for two meals is pretty dang cheap!

This "Pad Thai" in a bag is Way Overpriced & has an Unpleasant Taste.
This Pad Thai is the worst imitation of pet high I have ever tasted.I can say this with confidence because I have had the best pet is best pet I ever at a restaurant in Charleston South Carolina called the Meritage. There was a different exciting flavor in every bite of the Pad Thai from the Meritage.I knew that this backpacker's Pad Thai could not possibly be as good a good as the Pad Thai from the Meritage but I didn't think it could be as bad as it was.Imagine a bunch of hot spices from Mexico and Asia, with noodles,, drowned in sticky peanut butter and topped with hard, dry, unsalted peanuts....It was DIS-GUS-TING!Now, the company that makes this Pad Thai, has a pleasant meal called Katmandu Curry which is very good and costs about 1/3 of this ersatz Pad Thai -- which is very bad and barely qualifies as food.We will not be buying this again..

Great flavor!
Nutrient dense. Good Peanut flavor. Peanuts add great texture. Tastes and smells like you ordered take out or went to a Thai restaurant.
