Aryan Sun Myths: The Origin of Religions

Well Worth Reading
This book is a great reference for anyone who is interested in learning about the invention and evolution of religion. Unlike some of the the more recent authors who have tried to tackle this subject, Titcomb does not try to claim that Christianity is a copy of some other religious tradition. Instead she shows that all resurrection religions are specific manifestations of a single, original concept and worldview. The book is not divided into chapters, so the examples of different practices from around the world come in dizzying succession. The author's style is somewhat like James Frazer's, in that she has so much information to present that there is no way to do it without being somewhat overwhelming. Later in the book she does an excellent job of showing that "Christian" symbols, especially the cross, were in widespread use long before Christianity. She quotes the early church fathers eschewing the cross because it was a "pagan" symbol. The modern reader will note that she derives her religious symbology soley from the celestial, making extensive use of the zodiac, as well as other bodies and constellations to provide the basis of religious traditions. This can not be viewed as a shortcoming on her part, as the connection between the chthonic and celestial deities was not well understood when the book was written. As with any book from this era, it is important to keep in mind both what we have learned since it was written, as well as what we have forgotten.

Sun Worshipers
This is one of the most enlightened book I ever read after the Bible. It makes me understand the religious practices of today’s societies. Many Christians call upon a God they don’t know and don’t make any effort to know Him. Thanks

A thought provoking book.
Aryan sun-myths links many religious traditions to a common vision.

Interesting
It's an interesting book. It's more of a catalog of similarities, I think, than an in-depth exposure to the topic.
