High Potency, Certified Organic Diet 1lb

My two budgies began eagerly eating these tiny pellets as soon as I offered it to them. I give them a wholesome daily diet of high quality seed mix, along with organic fresh veggies, spinach, kale, sweet potato, raw pumpkin seeds, millet, and super grains like cooked quinoa. I offer fruit, but they won’t try it. So many people recommended feeding pellets to ensure caged birds are getting all their necessary nutrients, and I trust this brand as being super high quality. I didn’t expect my little boys to go for the unfamiliar texture and taste, but they absolutely love it! My birds won’t eat larger pellets, but Harrison’s is available in Superfine— it’s tiny but great for budgies. It’s also pretty expensive, but a bag lasts a good amount of time, and it’s worth it to help keep my budgies healthy. My babies are barely one year old, and they seem to molt pretty often, so I’m going to keep them on this High Potency formula awhile longer—at least until this new bag is empty. Thank you!

UPDATE: If you select the 5lb. bag in Super Fine size, you'll actually receive the larger Fine size. The image shows the Fine, but the size selection says Super Fine. There doesn't appear to be a way to order Super Fine in a more economical 5lb. bag (and it turns out that the company doesn't even offer it!), and I'm really annoyed at not having the food for my birds that I expected to have. One of my six budgies (aka parakeets) was recently sick with a fungal infection for over a month, which causes a lot of weight loss. Although I hadn't had much luck with offering my flock trial amounts now and then of friends' Harrisons' pellets in the Adult Lifetime Fine variety, I figured it was worth the expense to try to get my sick guy to eat some of the High Potency blend, with the extra calories and nutrition, as it could be a factor in his ability to survive the illness and treatment, and I was willing to try just about anything. I got this extra-small pellet size because it's close to the size of millet grains, and started by mixing a little in with the crushed Nutri-berries and with the fruity Zupreem pellets (x-small) he was already eating a bit of, but he didn't seem to be going for it. After a few days I started offering the Harrison's in its own dish alongside the others, and before I knew it, he was frequently choosing it over even his favorite Nutri-berries! So I switched fully to the Harrison's for his pellets and removed the Zupreem at that point. Now, he's fully recovered, and I'm so thrilled! I hadn't had much hope my sweet little guy would make it, and I strongly suspect that these pellets, along with a very warm, clean environment and lots of rest, were instrumental. Several of the other birds have eaten some of the Harrison's too now after seeing him enjoy it. Woohoo! I've just ordered the 5-lb. bag, and plan to do the 6-month regimen with the whole flock, after which I can hopefully transition them to the Adult Lifetime blend. This brand is on the expensive side, but the quality of the organic ingredients and the reduction of waste makes it worth the cost, and probably even less expensive than a cheaper diet in the long term when you factor in vet bills! If your birds won't eat it, try a smaller size; try mixing it with their favorite foods; try leaving a dish of it in the cage in their favorite spot at all times, and only offering their other food for a shorter time morning and evening. I think once you get them to try it, they realize it's good and want to eat it.

I took my canary to see my avian veterinarian. My new canary was having symptoms of malnutrition. I mentioned to my vet that I was going to start my canary on Kaytee Exact Rainbow Canary/Finch (pelleted) diet. He said that was a very good food and also recommended Harrison's High Potency pellets. The first day I offered the Kaytee Exact Rainbow exclusively in a separate dish without any seed in the cage. The first day the canary only ate some of this out of hunger. The next day he wouldn't eat it. I mixed it with seed after that and I don't think he touched the pellets. Another day I tried soaking them and offering as a wet food with his favorite flavored vitamin powder on it and he wouldn't touch it. I had a sample packet of Harrison's High Potency "Fine" from the vet and immediately My canary started eating the pellets even though I also simultaneously put seed in a separate dish for him. That day he became more energetic and started trying to sing which he hadn't been doing. I need to mention that the "fine" sized pellets are to big for him so he has a hard time eating them, so I ground them up into smaller pieces and he loves it even more. He'll still eats seed but also eats the Harrison's pellets whether I offer the seed or not. However he seems to prefer the Harrison's pellets over the seed. He is still in transition and I usually give him just the pellets for the first part of the day and then offer seeds in the late afternoon and he does fine, but even when I give the seeds he still seems to prefer the pellets. Whether you also continue to offer seeds as a supplement or not, I definitely recommend feeding this product as a staple diet. My canary is doing much better on it. He is starting to sing again, he is much more active with a lot more energy whereas before he would just quietly sit on one perch all day. I am more than happy to purchase this on Amazon but I just wish more Veterinarians would carry the "Super-fine" sized pellet and more dealers because I needed this immediately.

Took my baby lovebird a while to actually eat this, but he finally likes them. This product was recommended in several of the bird groups I’m a part of. The bag is resealable, and the pellets weren’t crushed to smithereens which I had been worried about. They are very tiny pellets—perfect for lovebirds, parakeets

My budgies absolutely love this stuff! :)) The size of the pellets is also very perfect (it looks similar to millet) and very nutritious. Will be buying Harrison’s for them regularly!

This is the only food I’ll feed my 23 year old cockatiel. We like the small pellets because anything bigger just ends up at the bottom of the cage. Too much waste. It also just seems to be a really high quality food. And well my old guy seems to be super healthy.
