Carrera Go "Disney "Cars" Slot Race Car Set 1:43 Scale

I bought this for Christmas for my 4 year old. He absolutely loves it because it is Disney Cars themed, but we are both very frustrated that the cars come off the track so easily.The cars in this set seem to have 3 speeds, "fast", "too fast", and "way too fast". You can't make them go slow because the powerful magnet sticks them to one spot. In fact, they are so heavily magnetized that there is no warning when they're about to come off the track. One lap you're fine, and the next lap (at the same speed) the car goes flying across the room. Note that we have only setup a simple oval, not the full track since other reviewers say the cars fly off some of the features of the full track even more easily. I had a slot car set when I was growing up in the 70s, and these cars are much different than what I'm used to. On the set that I had when I was a kid, the cars were lightly magnetized and went relatively slowly. You could see the cars go around the corners & could tell when they were about to come off the track (they'd go sideways).The other difference between these cars and what I remember are the electrical contacts on the bottom of the cars. The cars I'm used to had solid metal plates with light springs to push the contacts onto the "rails" built into the track. These cars have braided metal mesh scrunched up under the front end. When the cars come off the track (which they do all too often), the braided mesh tends to come out of position, meaning the cars won't "go" when placed back on the track. Sometimes the braided mesh prevents the front end of the car from fully contacting the track, meaning that the pin is not far enough down in the slot, and the car will come flying off the track even more easily. Sometimes a wire will come loose from the mesh and short the contacts together while you're driving, causing the car to just stop on the track. My 4 year old cannot manage to adjust the braid by himself, so I'm in charge of "fixing" the cars when they "break".I'm planning to do some research into slot cars & see if I can find some slower, less magnetized cars with traditional contact plates that I can transfer the "Cars" bodies to. If so, I think the set would be much more fun.If I had it to do over, I still would have purchased this for my 4 year old because he loves Disney Cars. I'm disappointed because it could have been a much better experience if the cars themselves had been better.

This was a Christmas gift that was assembled this morning and played with throughout the day; I would estimate it's been played with a total of about 4 hours today. I did buy one of the extension sets so my layout is not the same as what is showing on the Carrera Go "Cars" box. As far as cars flying off the track, I'm in agreement with another reviewer in terms of these cars possibly requiring a "break-in" period. I also agree that the turbo-button is useless unless you WANT to see your cars fly off the track. Seems like the more time we spent racing the cars, the more reliable they became as far as staying on the track, both Lightning and Chick Hicks. Every few minutes I'd check to make sure the contacts were laying as flat as possible. By the end of play today, we were logging 20 or more laps without either car leaving the track. I have several sharp turns as well as a fly-over on my layout. I did not use the high banking turn but I am using the 45 degree banked turn that came with the extension set. I also purchased the Carrera Go Batmobile and Mario Kart Peach individually. The Batmobile sticks to the track like GLUE!!! I don't think it flew out of the slot one time today. It's seemingly much faster than the other 3 cars. "Peach" is also a good performing car; a "fun" car to see zipping around the track but nowhere near as fast as the Batmobile. I did have to add a little more height to the flyover because Peach requires more clearance. If the enthusiasm continues, I will most certainly be buying more Carrera Go cars and extension track. I like the fact that the cars are reasonably priced and the track is easy to assemble. Bottom line, this race set is a hit with my kids, ages 10, 9, 8 and 6!

I'm glad I ignored the negative reviews and bought this race set. It's exactly what you'd want for a beginner slot car track. My 3-year old loves it, my 5-year old loves it, and I love it. It's the same experience I remember from when I was a little boy and the "Cars" theme makes it much more exciting for my kids. The quality and durability is more than enough to withstand the playful abuse dished out by my kids (one of whom we lovingly call the 'wrecking ball'). And the details on Lightening McQueen and Chick Hicks are fantastic.That said, the cars do fly off the tracks if you go too fast. But it's a slot car set. They're supposed to. What fun would it be if they didn't?? The people complaining about that probably never had a set when they were a kid. We did, however, remove the elevated 'flyover' turn and made it a flat hairpin turn. Overuse of the 'turbo' button turns the flyover turn into a ramp where you can launch the cars into the next room. (Fly, Chick Hicks, Fly!) Also, the instructions are amazingly cryptic. In fact, it's almost impossible to even call them instructions. I can see where people have problems translating the pictures/graphics into a working track. But that really is my only issue and once you figure it out assembly is easy.Overall, we absolutely love this toy. We've already toyed with different track configurations and will definitely buy more Carrera Go cars and track pieces. Enjoy.

Obwohl die Cars-Rennbahn ein echter Hingucker ist - die Autos sehen total gut aus, wie im Film - macht das Spielen eher wenig Spaß. Es beginnt mit einem ausgesprochen fummeligen Aufbau (Kinder sind damit total überfordert), die Aufbauanleitung ist mehr als undeutlich.Nun zum Spielen selbst. Für mich als sehr versierten Rennbahn-Fahrer ist es sehr schwer, die zu leichten Autos auf der Bahn zu halten. Bei jeder zweiten Kurve fliegen die Autos raus. Die Schleifer müssen ständig zurechtgebogen werden und halten nicht lange. Mit Reparaturen an der Strecke ist man eigentlich nach jedem Spiel beschäftigt. Schienen müssen wieder zusammengeschoben werden, die Halterungen sind unstabil und brechen schnell. Vom Turbo-Knopf läßt man am Besten ganz die Finger, da man die Autos ansonsten irgendwo unterm Schrank raussuchen muss...Die Autos bleiben am Rundenzähler und an den Spurwechsel-Schienen hängen, wenn man zu langsam fährt. Fährt man schnell genug, dann fliegen die Autos aus der Bahn. Kaum eine Runde ohne störenden Unfall.Ich kann also wirklich nicht zum Kauf der Rennbahn raten, da die Kinder sehr schnell den Spaß verlieren und die Väter vom ständigen Reparieren und Autos einsetzen genervt sein werden.Hat der Hersteller denn die Rennbahn gar nicht ausprobiert und nur an einen möglich guten Verkauf (durch die Cars, auf die ja alle kids abfahren) gedacht?Sehr schade, es könnte doch so viel Spaß machen, eigentlich...!!!Noch ein Wort zu den Autos: Alle sind zu leicht und fliegen wirklich leicht aus der Kurve. Die größte Frechheit aber ist der Hook (habe ich dazugekauft). Der bleibt echt keinen Meter in der Spur (der Schwerpunkt liegt noch höher als bei den anderen Rennern und taugt eigentlich nur für die Vitrine)Fazit: Lieber die "Grosse" von Carrera kaufen. Zwar ohne Cars, aber mit garantiert viel mehr Spielspaß!!!

Spaß und Kurzweiligkeit garantiertEin Erweitern der Rennstrecke ist fast schon ein muss( ..damit sie nicht so schnell auf den Dachboden endet)- wir holen sie nur zur Weihnachtszeit rausVerarbeitung und Qualität ist normal ( ob die Carrera-Bahnen früher besser waren, kann ich leider nicht sagen- kein Vergleich..)Die Fahrzeuge halten,..nur die Kontakte müssen in kurzen Abständen gereinigt werdenAufbau ist etwas langwierig- wenn man alles korrekt machen möchte.....Fahrzeuge verlassen bei leicht erhöhter Geschwindigkeit schnell mal die Bahn,...aber mit etwas Übung geht es schonIch würde trotzdem den Artikel empfehlen

Habe diese Carrera Bahn in der Disney Cars Edition extra für meinen 4 jährigen Sohn zu Weihnachten 2010 gekauft.Da mein Sohn absoluter Disney Cars Fan ist war es natürlich schon das Highlight unter den anderen Geschenken.Qualitativ ist die Bahn eigentlich sehr robust verarbeitet und auch die Fahrzeuge sind kindgerecht mit wenig Möglichkeiten etwas kaputt zu machen.Optisch ist die Bahn sehr gut gelungen und das Cars Flair schön eingefangen.Die Handhabung hat meinem Kleinen keine Probleme bereitet, im Gegenteil er kam sofort gut mit der Steuerung zurecht. Inzwischen ist er 5 Jahre alt und hat sogar schon ein wenig Routine wenn die Flitzer mal nicht so wollen. Meiner Meinung nach könnte Carrera die Altersempfehlung ruhig von 6 auf 5 Jahre reduzieren.Damit komm ich auch gleich zu den Negativen Punkten, die Fahrzeuge könnten definitiv schwerer sein, denn spätestens mit Einsatz der Turbotaste an den Controllern fliegen sie aus der Bahn.Das ist sehr schade und lässt die Funktion sinnlos erscheinen.Desweiteren ist das grüne Fahrzeug sehr schwierig zu steuern da es fast ein wenig zu lang geraten ist und die Gewichtsverteilung eher ungünstig gewählt wurde. Zum Glück hab ich vorsichtshalber noch den King(blaues Auto) zusätzlich bestellt um meinem Sohn zu ermöglichen auch die Rennen aus dem Film nachzuspielen.Das Rote und Blaue Auto funktionieren (solange man den turbo knopf nicht betätigt) gut und bleiben wenn man nicht zufällig an den Kreuzungsschienen zusammenstösst schön auf ihren Bahnen.Fazit:Eine solide verarbeitete Technik zusammen mit einer bärenstarken Lizenz können für Kinder im Alter von 4+ hier einen Heidenspaß bedeuten.Die oben angesprochenen Mängel wiegen vielleicht bei einigen Interresenten schwerer, ich persönlich finde jeddoch gerade bei dem Preis sollte man seine Ansprüche nicht zu hoch schrauben.Alles in allem würde ich das Produkt jedenfalls empfehlen.

Endlich konnt ich mir auch mal meine Carrera Bahn kaufen (durfte ich als Kind nicht). Meine Trnung, das'Geschenk fürs Kind. Sozusagen die Einstiegsdroge ins Carrera-Leben. Mit etwas Unterstützung bekommt auch der kleine Lightning Mc Queen die Bahn aufgebaut und kann dann gegen Papa racen. Warum nur 3 Sterne? Die Qualität der Autos/Bahn ist eher mittelprächtig bis suboptimal. Alle 5 Runden Bürsten richten, Bahnteile wieder zusammenflicken. Von den Drückern ganz zu schweigen.

Super Produkt, nur ein bisschen größer hätts sein können, aber sonst voller Spassfaktor. Die Autos sind sehr stabil da keine Spiegel usw drann sind. Mein Sohn ist erst 4 kommt aber voll gut damit klar, wohl auch weil keine schweren Loopings dran sind.Also für unter 6 Jahre einfach perfekt und der Papa hat auch Spass dran.Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen.
