DEAN KOONTZ'S INTENSITY
A**R
True to Dean Koontz
It was a true horror film. Dean Koontz tends to write his novels a bit like movie scripts because his books are so often made into movies. "Intensity", which now qualifies as one of his older books, has nearly perfect casting for the TV movie. Modern literature, even before Dickens, Austin, Thackery, and Wharton, knew to write a really interesting female character, and then put her in some kind of danger. That's "Intensity.""

Favorite Koontz movie AND book!
As most hardcore fans of Dean Koontz know, "Intensity" was released as a miniseries for television, and is considered one of Dean Koontz's better movies (with the possible exception of "Odd Thomas" being made now).John C. McGinley's acting is superb as Edgler Vess, and Molly Parker shines as Chyna Shepherd. There are a few characters added into the story for drama's sake and to add richness to the plot lines, since most of the book takes place internally in Chyna's own mind, and in Vess'.This is a really good quality of the miniseries, and I am pleased that it has finally been released on DVD for those of us who have been waiting for many years.*My disc did not have a subtitle option, just FYI. It's just the movie, and that's literally it. No extras, dialogue, etc.Highly recommended if you are a Koontz fan, or if you saw this on television and enjoyed it and want to see it again. Very entertaining.

Great Psychological Movie
Different and unusual with twist and turns that have you guessing right to the very end. The storyline is great actors were fantastic getting the story across making you sit very still not moving an inch, a killer I wonder who that can be? a very quiet girl who will not let her fears take control is determine to find this sadistic killer a grand old thriller that you wont forget to soon. So this I will rate as an A grade plus for the curves and psychological suspense that you can't control until the very end. Now this will have you ready to head for the door so my advise is don't put your feet up and relax, buy all means have the munchies in hand so that you won't be slowed down by picking them up on the way out. Full on marvellous entertainment ready to start, but this is my opinion only and I don't think you'll be disappointed. Enjoy!

Very good adaption of the story, held a LITTLE bit back by the fact it was made for mainstream TV.
It was a pretty good adaption, though because it was a TV movie, they couldn't really show the more gruesome parts of the novel, or show much blood at all. There was a scene removed that REALLY stands out in the book (the spider scene, you all know what I'm talking about XD) and a subplot added with a bystander on the road, and a sheriff who gets involved, but all in all, it's a fairly faithful adaption, and the acting by the main actress and the main villain is fantastic.

Fun movie.
Ok, the movie itself was good. The one thing I like about movies is that they are another way to tell a story, even if it is the same. There are some inconsistencies, in the respective story lines, but overall it was a good movie to watch. The book however I think emphasizes the word INTENSITY, a whole lot better than the movie did. I'm sure that you've read books where the author picks up the pace here or there, and then slows it back down again. In the book that this movie is based on, the high pace continues for the vast majority of the book. In fact, there isn't really a 'rest' until the end. Anyway, the movie doesn't quite translate INTENSITY, but more about the intensity of one guy.The quality of the case, and DVD were good.

I thought sitting on the edge of your chair was just an old expression
This is literally the first movie I ever actually sat on the edge of my seat the first time through. I thought sitting on the edge of your chair was just an old expression until then. The decision to cast John C. McGinley as the serial killer was beyond brilliant. I must admit even though John C. McGinley had been in many films that I had viewed prior to "Intensity" I had not really noticed, (yes, I really am that shallow)...and now am in total love with John C. McGinley. After viewing Intensity in 1997 the title went on my wish list and am so glad it was finally released to DVD.

Holds your attention
One of the best Dean R. Koontz movie adaptions in my view. Excellent performance by John C. McGinley as a cold blooded psychopathic killer.
