FRUIT CAKE Regular- 1 lb Regular Recipe Claxton Fruitcake

I have been enjoying Claxton fruitcakes for over 20 years and this one I ordered did not taste good.. I had to throw it away..it tasted old.. I never had that problem before..have no idea what happened. I usually buy the light fruit cake but have occassionally bought the darker one..but this still did not taste right thank you..

Very disappointed. Fruit cake package seemed old, like last year's fruit cake. After opening it. The cake was dry and stale. I think I was shipped an old fruitcake. I ate these cakes as a younger person and was looking forward to it now, this one was not good.

My ordered fruitcake was dry, dry, and dry. I think it must have been on the shelve for a year or so. In the past it was pretty good but the one I just got (I buy every year) was just flat terrible and the company should be ashamed of sending it to a customer. Really disappointed. With two other people I opened it and we all agreed it should be trashed (and it was). Buyer beware.

The fruit cake was very dry and did not taste fresh at all like it was left over from last year. There was hardly any fruit and the merger amount was the cheapest and very dry and mostly nuts. I purchased this cake for the holidays but I am not going to serve it to my guests.

This cake is fabulous! Just what I wanted; no one has been selling fruit cake or stollen in my neighborhood during the pandemic. I like to eat it over the Christmas and New Year holidays. I took a chance on this one because it's small but chock full of fruit and nuts, and delicious, just the right amount to satisfy your taste buds but won't last long enough to get stale. You can't go wrong with this one. I highly recommend it.

This is, in my view, what a fruitcake should be. There's just enough cake so that you taste some of it, and the cake is moist and delicious. There are enough nuts that the crunch of nuts and the flavor of nuts are constant as you eat it. And there's plenty of dried fruit but not too much. You notice some taste of fruit, but not the overwhelming sweetness that can come from too much dried fruit.My parents used to buy this fruitcake when I was in high school. Around 1960! And today it tastes the same, and comes in the same odd-size package.I'm saying that this is a fruitcake that has perfect balance! It's great as it comes, and it's even better when you dose it with a tablespoon or two of rum and let it sit for a while. Then serve a couple of 1/4" slices along with a snifter of a nice Cognac after dinner....

The item in general was okay, but it arrived in a bubble mailer--not a sturdy way to ship a food item; one end of it was smooshed. That part of it didn't taste very fresh, but the rest was fine. Overall tasty fruitcake. Slightly pricey, but considering I bought it outside holiday time, and no one forced me to buy it, I can't really complain. ;)Definitely should consider better packaging for shipment, but otherwise good experience.

I really liked this fruit cake. I was able to have it all to myself as not too many folks like it.I had homemade fruit cake for years from my awesome Irish neighbor till she wasn't able tobake any more. I am glad I was able to find on Amazon as no stores around had any type atall and this is an excellent combination of freshness, taste and wonderful real ingredients.P.S. and it holds up well if you want to add a bit of Jameson. lolGreat job and great choice.Joe P.
