Kept water thawed in negative temps
I got this since I’ve had a bird bath on the railing so I want to ensure the birds know they can expect water year-round, even in freezing temps. I’ve had it about 6 weeks and am very pleased with its performance! As I write this, it’s currently -4 degrees Fahrenheit outside here in the Midwest. While some of the water has frozen a bit on the top/sides, the base has kept the water from freezing and the center is completely unfrozen so birds can still drink from it.It’s been a little challenging getting the bird bath mounted to our thin railing since the clamp seems more intended for large wood railings. What I ended up doing is just strapping a board across the corner with a bungee cord to hold it in place (as shown in my pics). This setup is working great and keeps the bath level. It is pretty shallow, but I think it needs to be to keep the water thawed. It seems to be plenty for the number of birds we have around right now & I fill it every couple days. It does not make the water hot, but it keeps it warm enough to prevent freezing, even in the subzero temps we’re currently having. The metal frame that holds it is very substantial and sturdy. I have not used the little feet or the screw-in mount, just the clamp. While the clamp didn’t work well with our thin metal railing, it was very sturdy and I think it would work much better with the appropriate railing.I used an outdoor rated extension cord to power it & used duct tape to secure the connection and also to prevent water from getting to the plug. The cord I used is rated for air compressors & things like that so it’s handling this just fine.Overall I’m really pleased with this heated birdbath. I don’t know that we’ll get many birds in this weather but at least I know if any do come around, they’ll have fresh water.

So far, so good
Item arrived in a timely manner, seems solid, simple, easy to set up. I used the legs provided and set it up on the frozen surface of what held flowers in summer months. I wanted it away from the feeders so it wouldn't get dirty form all the mess the birds make under the feeder. When it needs to be cleaned, I can either bring hot water and a cloth out and clean it there or unplug it and bring it inside. Neither option will be very difficult. It's only about 2 inches deep, which is great for birds. I've only had it a few days, but so far, so good. The water has not frozen, is cool, but not frigid. No worse than a stream might be here, in winter. I've been sitting here like an anxious parent who bought a new toy for their child, waiting for the birds to discover it. So far, I've only seen Blue Jays drinking from it, but time will tell. Anxious to see if it affects my power bill. The only thing that I might look for in the future would be an on/off switch, rather than just unplugging it and maybe the water could be a tad warmer. So far, I would recommend this product.

Nice gift!
Nice gift for birdlovers but the water bowl is so shallow it has to be refilled several times a day. Set up on deck railing very easy!

When ponds freeze over, treat your birds to fresh water
Love this product. I got it before last winter when I learned that in the winter birds expend more energy looking for water than food. Last winter was the first use and it kept the water in liquid state when the temp was in the 20s.

UPDATE: Meh, so-so quality. Keeps Water Open During the Winter but Must Add Water Every Day
Multiple options for mounting is convenient. I used the three legs for placement on the patio table. Railing mount included as well. It's not a steaming hot tub for the birds, but warm enough to prevent freezing. I didn't measure the temperature, but it feels cool but not ice cold to the touch. After a few weeks, I am updating my review to three stars. It's OK, but the bottom of the tub where the heating element is located, is bowed upward so the admittedly shallow bird bath is even shallower in the middle. The water does dry up very quickly because there is so little water in basin because the of the upward displacement in the center of the basin. You really do have to add water to this every day. I believe the way that the heating element is molded into the basin is the cause for this distortion. The area in the center of the basin feels thin and flimsy. (They don't make them like they used to. ;-)I would be hesitant to recommend this to a friend.I think I could do better by purchasing a metal basin and installing my own heating element with a Klixon open-on-rise, bi-metal thermostat with a temp setting around 35 deg F.

Excellent small, ground-level heated birdbath
In our almost-acre yard, we added this small, ground-level heated birdbath to provide birds and critters with a good water option during winter. It's working perfectly, and I note that even in seriously arctic temperatures in Montana (windchilll temps of 42 degrees below zero), the water did not freeze over. In those extreme temperatures, frost formed around the edges, and there were a couple of very thin, very small, floating pieces of ice. But that was it. Even in "regular" temperatures, ranging from 20 degrees to zero, the birdbath doesn't freeze over. My only concern – minor – is that the legs slip out easily when I try to clean the birdbath. My solution is to simply affix them permanently with superglue. This birdbath is perfect for our needs. We have two other heated birdbaths in the yard: a standing birdbath and a large ground-level one. The three together help keep birds, deer, raccoons, squirrels, foxes, and other critters from dehydration when unfrozen water is in relatively scarce supply. I recommend frequent cleaning. And it is a shallow birdbath. But I've placed it where it's an easy fill, daily or every other day.

Wonderful bird bath!
Just added this to my bird feeder, and it is fantastic! It's just deep enough to put enough water for birds to land on the edge and drink from. One thing I recommend: if you attach it to a fence, be sure to "tilt" the part attached to the fence to account for the "dip" from the weight of the water. I leveled the bath initially, then put water in and it tipped downward. But overall, great bird bath!

All seasons bird bath
I bought this in October and looked out one day and it was full of birds and more waiting for the bath. Since I plugged it in around early December, there's been a mixed bag of weather and cold nights below 0C and the water doesn't freeze. I can feel the warmth on the bottom of the bath when cold and on warm days I can tell it's not warming because the built-in temperature gauge shuts off when not needed. Birds are still taking a bath (they still bath in winter)or drinking, squirrels too. It's easy to unplug, pop out the bath to bring inside to wash. My previous bird bath couldn't stay out in winter & if I put a dish out it would ice up and I felt bad for the birds. I attached to the railing, easy to set up near the plug. I don't know if it's just evaporation in these temps or warming causing it, but I do have to top it up every other day at least or it's gone almost dry. Or could be the birds splashing around in it lol. I will update when it's really cold how it handles if it freezes or can't handle it. But so far -11C overnight was still water in the morning. Those lucky birds 😄Edit: middle of January, before work feeling like -22C I turned on the light and took a picture, frost around the edges because of high winds but completely liquid! Topped it up, but after work it had dry areas already, so definitely have to monitor water level. How nice during the day to see the birds wading thru it or drinking. So far so good 👍

It's been cold outside, but the water stays liquid
Keeps the water from freezing. It works at -10c and I'd expect it to be fine colder than that, too. I don't think birds would be interested in taking a dip in -30 degree weather but I'm not a bird so I don't know. The water never gets warm, so don't expect a bird hot tub. Other than that, I've got it set up on the little feet it comes with and that's fine. The cord is pretty short so you'll want an extension cord. The bath is wide but shallow, so there's a good amount of evaporation and you'll have to fill it up every few days. I haven't seen any birds in the bath yet and its been a week, but I have been told that it might take several weeks before the birds are familiar with it enough to go for a splash. Makes sense because it takes them a while to warm up to a new feeder.Overall, does precisely everything expected of it. I gave it a 5 in all categories. I would have given it 6 stars for "sheerness" if I could.

Birds like it!
The day after I set up the birdbath there was a huge snowfall and temp fell to -20 C. (in Edmonton). The birdbath worked perfectly over night and kept the water from freezing. The birds started drinking from it but then also started to splash around in the water (can't let these little guys get wet in the winter!) So my solution, which seems to work really well, was to set a plastic plant saucer about one inch smaller in diameter than the birdbath upside down in the birdbath. Then I placed a terra cotta saucer on top of the plastic saucer to weigh it down. Thus the birds have access to fresh unfrozen water but only can't splash around. In the spring I'll remove the saucer and let them go crazy in the water! You will need to fill the birdbath every day (holds about 2 cups of water).

A value birdbath which works
I liked the price, compared to many offerings well over double the price, It's easy to mount with the supplied hardware. My only complaint is that the bowl is much too shallow; doubling the depth would be perfect. Overall, a good item and worth the money.

Satisfaite
