Overall, I'm impressed. This thing is easy to use to make tinder for starting a fire. Be careful though, the grater is SHARP and will peel the skin. I love the small size and negligible weight of this. It stores in a pack without much room and seems pretty durable after using for several months. I use a larger ferro rod, but this one would work in an emergency. It's a nice add to the package. For the money, this seems like an instant value to add to any fire kit. Get one, you'll be glad you did.

Lightweight, stores shavings, handy to have a ferro rod and striker stored in box when not using. Very nice for starting wood fired camp pot collapsible stainless steel stove fires. I like the color, not easy to loose! Great product by Smiths Whetstones of my home town.

This is the coolest firestarter ever for backpacking/camping. The striker doesn't work great, but the fact that I can make tinder from a small branch and the grater, plus store the tinder in the grater is awesome. The grater could be a little sharper, and a better striker would have gotten 5 stars from me. Very cool item.

I took this camping with some friends & several of them used it & were very pleased with it. I like it & have used it many times to make a camp-cook fire. It is compact, easy to use & is practically weightless.

This is a fantastic little piece of camp gear. It allows you to shred fat wood if you have it or can find it. It's also brightly colored so that it's easy to see should you drop it. And it's small enough to fit in your pocket or one of the mini pockets that happen to be on my camping vest. Had no idea it existed. If I lose it I will definitely buy another one

Alternative to making a feather stick..work well..bought 3..find/buy a few pieces of fat wood.. over prep for making a fire for success..I recommend this..
