AquaClear 20-Gallon Foam Inserts,White, 3-Pack, A1390

[Update January 2025: This foam sponge has proven to be very useful over time. I would recommend owning some in reserve, because it has multiple aquarium uses. I've used it as I said in my old review below, I use it to clean algae off the glass, I've used it to cover a sharp edge on an air stone, and now I've used it to make an emergency sponge filter. I'm going to order more (it's out of stock, so I'll order a different size from the same brand I guess), since I've gotten a lot of use out of it! It is durable and easy to use.] Old review, June 2022: I bought these to slow down my filter to be safer for my shrimp! I cut a hole in a chunk of one of these sponges and slid it over the intake tube of my filter, so baby shrimp won't get sucked in through the holes. It's ugly because you can see the dirt on the white sponge, but functionality is what I was more concerned about. I also wedged another chunk over the output of my filter to distribute the flow more slowly so there is less of a current, so my shrimp can swim without being propelled into the wall. This sponge has pores that are kind of wide, but still make my filter safer, and I still have extra. It doesn't affect the filter's ability. (For reference I'm using a Tetra brand Whisper filter.)

This filter media is great! I bought my first pack from a local fish store a few months ago, and now that it's time to swap it out, I've decided to stick with the same brand. Buying it in multi-packs here is way cheaper than any LFS! I had this brand recommended to me to use in my Azoo Mignon 60 filter, and though I do need to cut the foam a bit to fit inside, I still couldn't be happier with it. It does the job wonderfully! I would definitely recommend this media even if you don't use Aqua Clear filters. You can even see the good bacteria cultures forming on it- that tan/gold stuff that builds up over time isn't just tank waste. However, in order to enjoy the full benefit of a bacteria culture in your filter, pair the sponge with Aqua Clear's Biomax! I believe the Aqua Clear brand was recently acquired by Fluval. I have seen new packaging with the Fluval logo claiming it is the same thing as the Aqua Clear, so if you can't pick this up online but see the Fluval stuff in your LFS, it's -probably- the same thing.

I purchased the Top Fin 5 Gallon Engage tank kit and found that the built in filteration system sucks. So, I purchased this 3 pack with the idea I could place them in behind the "wall" and create a better filteration system. These fit literally, perfectly! Didn't have to do any cutting or shoving. Also, the price is unbeatable. Will purchase these again when it's time to replace them.

I purchased this to use in my HOB filters rather than the expensive cartridges that they suggest buying. I didn’t want carbon in my tanks and this filter sponge works well and fit in my filters after I cut them to my preferred size. I used these with filters other than the one it’s intended to be used with. I also put this in my hospital tank to help with filtration. Overall, this is very versatile.

I use these for an Aqueon 10G Filter. I cut them and use them in the overflow instead of those little nasty pieces they provide. They last much longer and I can get 2 per pad that last twice as long. Great value for my purpose! Recommend

I have an aqua cube pet water fountain that comes with a white foam filter as well as the carbon filter. Problem is, you can't purchase replacement foam filters. HOWEVER, I purchased these and you can cut 4 perfect size filters from each as they are the proper dimensions except for the length which is 4 times (hence 4 filters). So, in conclusion, great purchase for aqua cube owners as you get 12 filters after cutting from the 3 pack!

We've had our Fluval Edge 6 Gallon system for over a year now. When It was time to replace the Filter Media, our local pet store no longer carried the Edge line replacements. Knowing Fluval and AquaClear are owned by the same parent company, I found out the Edge filter was a re-branded copy of the AquaClear 20 filter. I confirmed this info by checking out a few aquarium hobbyist blogs. I ordered each of the replacement filter medias (sponge, carbon & biomax) and can confirm they are an exact match for the Fluval Edge stock filter basket. Pricing was better on Amazon than other online aquarium suppliers I checked. I had no local retail store to compare prices with either so Amazon deservedly received my business.

El paquete llegó en tiempo y en buenas condiciones. El rendimiento que da este filtro es muy bueno para mi acuario de 40 litros con sobre población de peces japoneses. Lo mejor es que es muy fácil de limpiar y Amazon te vende las refacciones y los consumibles. Lo recomiendo ampliamente!

Material. Passt genau in den Filter, der übrigens bestens und seit Jahren ohne Störungen funktioniert. Würde mir gerne einen größeren Filter für 250 Liter kaufen,,,habe aber leider noch keinen bei AquaClear gefunden.
