3-Pack Orbit 58197n Zinc Step Spike Base

Took me forever to find a base for my (Amazon) Rainbird sprinkler head. Now I see someone is selling the Rainbird as a two-some. If I had it to do again, I would evaluate the combo, but propably go with the items separately. This base fist the Rainbird perfectly. The base is solid, robust, holds it's place in the soil even if you have squishy loam. It doesn't lean, or tilt or wobble in use. The spike is long enough to hold the sprinkler head upright. It hasn't bent, or broken off. There is no rust. I plan to buy a second base and head for the backyard. Recommended.

Years ago I bought some decent but not great "ratcheting" sprinklers. Pretty quickly the bases broke but the sprinkler heads were good, or at least good enough, so I upgraded the bases. The new bases lasted pretty good but the heads wore out, so I upgraded those to the quality brass Rain Birds. Of course now the bases are worn out and broken again but the heads are pretty new and definitely worth keeping, so the cycle continues. For those who either had issues or have concerns about sealing the (male) sprinkler head threads into the (female) spike threads, use either an o-ring, teflon tape, or liquid pipe thread sealant. I used the liquid pipe thread sealant, seated them just snug, and have no issues with leaks. I bet the newer heads will outlast these new (cast zinc) bases, but time will tell.

The product is pretty good, I dont think it's worth what it costs. The only thing I dont like is there is nothing inside the top for the sprinkler to seal to. I bought a rain bird impact sprinkler and it just screws all the way to the bottom of the thread but it doesnt seat against anything to make a seal. I cant tell if the top rim was meant to seal up against an O ring or what but I just ended up wrapping the threads which a whole bunch of teflon tape.

I couldn't believe the output of these sprinklers. We have pretty low pressure with our well water. I have spent a small fortune buying sprinklers that claim they work on low pressure. None of them compare to the results we got from these sprinkler heads. I water a little over 1 acre and now it takes me half the time to do the job. Wow! I ordered 4 more.

I was advised to start using these types of sprinklers after we had major landscaping done to level out our front and back yard. I needed to watch a video to understand the different ways to adjust the sprinkler. The concept behind this sprinkler is great for being able to specify what area of the yard you want to focus on or if you just want the sprinkler to rotate in a 360 degree pattern. After about a month both of my sprinklers started to get stuck at one point when I was attempting to use them to focus on a specific area which is disappointing because then they are no better than any other sprinkler on the market.

These worked great for my rain birds. They held them right in place and mad them feel like they were ment for them to go on. Coating seemed thick like it would last for years. I would make sure you buy directly from the manufacture though. When I did I didnt have a problem. I bought them from a second hand dealer and both of them I got had bent threads

Fits on the brass rain bird impact sprinkler. Really like the option to put another hose on the output and do a couple in series. Nice piece to push down with foot, equally nice to pull it out of the ground by the same piece.It has a nice finish to it so if you take care of it, it should keep from deteriorating for a long time.Next I'll be getting one of the motion sensor sprinklers to keep those darn kids off my lawn!

I took another reviewer's suggestion and put this base with a rainbird sprinkler. The two make a reliable and strong combination.

Good quality, sturdy. I would certainly buy again.
