Mastering the Nikon D7200 by Darrell Young provides a wealth of experience-based information and insights for owners of the new D7200 camera, exploring the features and capabilities of the camera in a way that far surpasses the user's manual. Darrell helps the user navigate past the confusion that often comes with complex and powerful professional camera equipment, guiding readers through the features with step-by-step setting adjustments; color illustrations; and detailed how, when, and why explanations for each option. Every button, dial, switch, and menu configuration setting is explored in a user-friendly manner, with suggestions for setup according to various shooting styles. Darrell’s friendly and informative writing style allows readers to easily follow directions while feeling as if a friend dropped in to share his knowledge. The information in this book goes beyond the camera itself and also covers basic photography technique. Review: The Best Nikon D7200 Reference Guide - This is by far the best book about the Nikon D7200. It provided in depth details about virtually every setting the D7200 has to offer along with the authors’ suggested settings. And yes, there are detailed explanations about the numerous buttons and dials on the camera body. This is my D7200 go to reference manual, and I carry it in my photo backpack. But it does not teach you how to set up proper ISO, shutter speed and aperture settings for a good exposure. You will find that in books about general photography. Review: The only Nikon D7200 book you'll ever need - This is a review of "Mastering the the Nikon D7200," but I have a history with the author's work that is worth mentioning. I first discovered Darrell's work in 2009 when I received the Nikon D90 as a gift. I had decided it was time to learn how to shoot manually and figured the best place to start was with a how-to manual for the camera I owned, plus a lot of experimentation and reading on photography in general. I don't remember how I came across "Mastering the Nikon D90," but I was hooked from the beginning. Darrell's straightforward discussion of each camera feature, broken down into easy to reference sections, plus his suggested settings jump-started my learning process. "Mastering the Nikon D7000" was equally excellent, and now I am pleased to own this one. While I may also order the electronic copy of this book, I particularly enjoy having the hardcover. The book is visually pleasing and well-organized, with an extensive index. If you are familiar with the other books in the series, you will find things satisfyingly consistent. But the best part of this book is the straightforward discussion about the myriad features of the Nikon D7200, starting with initial camera set-up. There are choices to make, and Darrell makes these distinctions easy to understand. But lest you think this book is just for a beginner, it is not. Darrell manages to impart the simple information necessary to become familiar with the camera's basic features, but also delves deeper for those who are ready for or needing more in depth information, as well as including helpful links with further information. The book is thick enough to feel the satisfaction of knowing that if you read it all, you'll be light years ahead of many D7200 owners, but not so thick that you can't take it with you when you need to. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

The best book for understanding how to set up and use this great camera
I already own his Mastering the D7000 book, so when I upgraded cameras, I upgraded to his D7200 book. The two books are very similar, but he carefully details all the improvements in the newer model, which are many. The author does an exceptional job of describing the myriad of menu choices as well as the basic and advanced settings of this Nikon and he also clearly helped me understand the implications of one setting over another. I find this book invaluable and it is now covered with tabs and highlights. One reviewer criticized this book for not providing a course to improve creativity. Really? You need this book if you are new to this camera and/or to the Nikon menu system, and what I really like are the author's conclusions/preferences/recommendations for each setting and option. Buy another book if you want tips on being more creative in your photography.

Still reading it.. but so far I really like it!
Still reading it but so far it has helped me learn my camera a lot. I give it 4 stars because I am not sure if I've been able to master it yet but then again I am still reading it so I will update when I am done. So far I really like his writing style and he brings it to a level of understanding that can be for anyone . I definitely recommend buying this book because it's huge steps above the manual.

Wonderful Explanations!
A Great book!!! If you want to know all about your Nikon D7200 and all it's features and how to use them, then this is it! This book is so well written and easy to understand. The author explains everything so well, and in great detail. This D7200 is my 3rd Nikon camera upgrade. I started with the D3100, then the D5300, and now the D7200. This book is very helpful with learning all the new features and camera controls on the D7200. I recommend this book for anyone who has a D7200 Nikon camera.

Review of Maswtering the Nikon D7200 by Darell Young.
This review is for another great book by Darrell Young, best money you can spend after purchasing a new Nikon or upgrading your equipment. Buy the paperback version as it will be your go to 'how to do this", full of great tips on making perfect shots. I use sticky tabs to make it convenient to find sections I review. Goes into much greater detail than the dreaded owners manual and has great tips for setting up the custom menus as well with color pictures showing the buttons and menus to help you follow along. I have his D750 and Beyond Point and Shoot as well so any of his books are a great investment.

Master your D7200 with this book!
This is a really good book! The explanations are complete and the organization is excellent. If you are a new D7200 owner and are a visual learner like me, this is THE BOOK to have! The illustrations are spot on. Look no farther for a great useful manual... The author really knows how to teach using pictures that reflect what is on the camera. Best money I ever spent for a photography book- If I ever go to a Nikon full framed camera, I'm going to purchase one of his matching books to go along with it. 5 STARS!

A comprehensive user manual replacement
It doesn't take very many pages before you realize that Darrell writes books like these often. He has developed a style of conveying all of the essential information as quickly as possible while still providing some personal inputs. I live in the same general region and enjoy photographing some of the same landscapes. This book is one I will keep in my bag for a few months while I get to know my new camera. I bought this before pulling the trigger to see if it had all of the features I was interested in or if I needed to wait for the D500. I am very excited for my new camera - I have a great headstart thanks to this book.

Ottimo!

A must for owners of this camera.
If you own a Nikon D7200 then I think this book is a must, even if you've been using the camera for some time. Pretty much everything you could want to know about how to operate this camera and change the settings for the better are here. What's more, the author, who is a long time professional photographer, also adds his own take at the end of each section on what settings he prefers to use, and why he prefers it. This is very useful indeed if you're not a professional. But just to be clear to people, though: this isn't a "How to take photographs" type book; it's purely about how to operate this excellent camera.
