These tongs are capable of lifting and holding a 5kg crucible. They will likely lift one with a full load of aluminum. They do to feel thick enough to go any further than that. They will not be picking a full load of a #6 here.

You get what you pay for
Need to pick up a small crucible, horizontally, while having, say double or so the width of the crucible on both sides free in order to open the tongs? Are you a value-minded metallurgist who is looking for tongs for this precise scenario? Then you are in luck. Everyone else is stuck with some flimsy tongs
