Another good collection of dance music from PvD
I passed up the chance to buy this 2-disc set a couple of years ago thinking "oh great, yet another collection of dance mixes from Paul van Dyk...". Well yes, this is the third or fourth collection he has released but I regret not buying it sooner as there are plenty of great tracks across the two discs. The general sound of the tracks he has selected are a good match to his own style so if you know PvD's sound you will know what to expect. Some of these tracks have been on other mix sets before so you may recognise a couple but it isn't like other collections with a lot of recycled tracks. Most of what's on here is fresh. This is the kind of CD set that you can play in the background and not really notice anything in particular standing out but once you have finished listening to it, you'll want to start it up again. In summary, a good purchase for dance music fans, especially if you like Paul van Dyk's work and are sick of DJ mixes where you've already heard half the tracks before.

Finally!
Having been less than thrilled with his last few CDs I was hoping that TPOD2 would finally bring back the PVD I loved on TPOD1. Reflections and Global were all right but certainly nothing astounding. Having seen PVD numerous times in DC and Miami, I've always had a hard time reconciling the mindblowing energy of his live sets with his relatively low-key recent CD releases. Well the wait is over and we finally have PVD back where he belongs as the top trance DJ in the world. TPOD2 is a monster of epic proportions. The mixing is beyond seamless, the tracks are expertly chosen, the pacing is brilliant, and there's no chance for boredom to set in from hearing one thing too long (17 tracks on disc 1!) Listen to this and remind yourself what great trance is truly about. And if you really want to be overwhelmed go see PVD live. Amazing stuff, I'm glad he's finally delivered the disc I've wanted since TPOD1.

Love this collection!
My favorite track is "Nothing" = FREAKING amazing. So good in fact, that this is the 2nd CD set I have purchased - because my first copy had a glitch on the track "nothing" so I HAD to replace it & put it into my iTunes. Crisis averted.

Pleasant sounds played in the background
Recently, I am playing this CD almost everyday as background music at the house. Two discs and lots of electronic compositions. I have not grown to recognize distinctions between the various tracks; I imagine that some would find the variety of melodies limited and no lyrics. I will continue to play though, as the music is intellectually interesting while not distracting for conversational-type get togethers.

Disc 1: So-so; Disc 2: Definitely the best!
I recently purchased this 2-disc CD. I had enjoyed other work by this artist, so I thought I'd see what this latest CD would be like.Disc 1 was just too "calm" for my tastes. There is a huge difference between "trance" music and "sleep-inducing" music. Actually, I only cared for one mix on CD 1; thus, the lower rating for the entire CD.Disc 2, however, was an absolute joy! I liked every song on here (except one--I thought it broke the atmospheric tone the rest of the CD had set). As stated in another review, this was truly the "Politics of Dancing". Each song (save the one mentioned above) flowed magnificently into the next and kept a fever pitch for shaking the old junk in the trunk!Again, I wish Amazon would review its ratings and assign half-stars. I would have given this CD 3-1/2 stars if I could have. Disc 1 was not my idea of trance; i.e. it was slow and boring. Disc 2 managed to save the day and garner a decent overall review.

been waiting a long time for something like this
Beautiful music. One of the years best albums, with both discs being great mixes. This might be the years only great 2-disc mix that is worth listening to both discs. Great track selection and the usual great mixing.
