After reading this book I feel I have an obligation to let you know about “Building, Occupying & Selling Tiny Homes Legally! by Jenifer Levini Esq. This book is a guideline to all who are interested in the tiny home movement whether you are just thinking about it or have already started on the journey to an intentional lifestyle. Jenifer Levini, Esq. has already laid bare the foundation to a starting point that will not only save you time and money, but make sure your home is built with safety and professionalism. She has compiled a plethora of data and details that can be easily read and understood by the novice just enthralled with the concept of the movement to readers of all trades legal, construction, design and more. Tiny homes can make big dreams come true and this book will help make that happen!

There was a lot of hearsay and conjecture to wade through in order to understand what was and wasn't legal for tiny home construction before this book came along. Everyone seemed to have their own truth or magical caveat scenario.This book came at the perfect time for me, personally. I was looking to build a tiny home on wheels and had no clue what I was getting into. Fortunately, my doctor recommended this book to me (I need to build a custom tiny home on wheels from scratch for health reasons - toxic mold prevention). She knows Jenifer personally and enthusiastically recommended this guide.I then recalled that Jenifer had given me a free 20-minute call providing legal insights when I was considering building a yurt last year (also illegal for full-time occupancy in Santa Cruz county in California, as are tiny homes on wheels.) Jenifer is an altruistic spirit who truly wants to help people through the housing crisis into homes that they can afford and love. She is a seasoned vet of the tiny home movement and clearly displays her love and familiarity with it throughout this guide, both personally and professionally.Armed with this guide, I was able to grill all the builders I was interviewing, separating the wheat from the chaff, cutting out of consideration those who were bluffing or blowing smoke. Even though my home will be technically illegal for full-time occupation in my county, it will be built 100% legally to all the relevant codes including the RV standards and IRC international building code, from a fully certified builder, so that when our antiquated housing laws actually catch up with the times, I will be able to get my structure permitted for full-time residence. Or move it to greener pastures to a county that gets it and legally establish permitted residence there.I am happy to report that I put down my design deposit yesterday with the custom builder that this book's sage advice helped me choose! I am looking forward to being in my own custom, legal, and safe tiny home on wheels by August. Thanks Jenifer! May your book help millions.

I have been in the Tiny house advocacy space for about 2 years and recently purchased this book. It is the the most thorough reference guide to codes and standards that I've ever found. You will read it, use it, and read it again! If you are trying to legalize tiny homes in your city or county, you NEED this book! This will also serve people looking to build or buy a tiny home and offers excellent advise that will help you avoid pitfalls and safety hazards. One of my BEST tiny investments to date!

I've always been interested in tiny home living and in the "mobile" home lifestyle in general. Until I read this book I never realized the many differences within these types of homes, nor that each has its own set of corresponding laws. This book is loaded with valuable legal information and interesting general information regarding tiny homes. In addition, it was enjoyable to read and contains several interesting pictures throughout. If you are thinking about living in or investing in tiny homes, or any type of alternative pre-fab or mobile housing, you should buy this book.

if you want to build a tiny house this book will scare you into throwing in the towel and renting an apartment. they do a fine job of letting you know that it is an impossible dream. was it written by the permit enforcement people?

It’s outdated, referencing the 2016 building codes. Has very little useful information. Can be summarized as; If you want to legally live in your Tiny House make sure you check with your local Planning and Building Department! Broken down into 6 parts. First part is about Tiny hours on foundation which takes all of 15 minutes to read and just list off the sections of the building codes.

From definitions to regulations, this book pulls together the essential information needed allowing you to avoid some major potential pitfalls if venturing into the world of tiny house living or building!! If you're thinking about a tiny home, this is a spectacular reference from a reliable resource...

I thought this book would give me insight into what I should pay special attention to when building my TIny House in case I want to sell it later. I knew there were no regulations specifically for tiny homes on trailers if they are within the legal highway size limits. I am a local builder so I know about regulations, permits, and inspections. This book does not offer any new information for me because I am not planning on building or ever traveling to California. This book basically focuses on how California is trying to regulate tiny homes and how to make sure you can get around these to make sure they can't condemn your structure as uninhabitable. Don't buy this book unless your are planing on building and living in California!
