Monoprice Large Studio Condenser Microphone - Multi-Pattern with 34mm Capsule, Shock Mount and Hard Carrying Case, LC200 - Stage Right Series

I'm pretty happy with this mic so far! I've got a decent mic locker, full of mid-tier and modded mics, and this has found a spot in my roster. The polar patterns sound similar, and the cardioid and figure-8 have strong rejection. My only complaint is that it's very sibilant. Nothing you can't EQ out though, and the upside is that you won't be lacking presence. I plan to change the capsule to something with less of a 10k boost. I like this mic a lot more than the LTM500, which is the tube mic variant. The tube, while warmer and less sibilant, distorts so easily. Even with a tube change. I really struggled to get a usable sound out of it, but not this one. Excellent deal for a multi-pattern microphone.

The sound was initially good enough for me. As I have no other 34mm mics to compare with it, I can't say much about it. But, it sounded better and cleaner than other 24mm, 16mm, 14mm mics that I owned. Unfortunately, the mic started malfunctioning 2 weeks after amazon return window closed. I contacted Monoprice customer support. They asked me to send the proof of purchase from Amazon. Then, nothing happened for a whole month. Upon following back, they sent me a RMA and asked me to drop of the unit at Fedex. They would replace me after they receive the old unit. Their excuse was that they were overwhelmed by emails. I just didn't like this, because, first of all, they were already overwhelmed, and on top of that, the holiday shipping rush and corona-outbreak delays add enormous uncertainty of their replacement time-frame. Instead of dealing with lousy monoprice customer service, I purchased Neewer USB mic at a very good deal (just eighteen bucks). Surprisingly, this mic gave me almost similar quality of audio recording. I won't be purchasing any monoprice product from now on.
