Why spend money on carbon water bottle cages?
I am an avid cyclist and I care about the weight of my bike and everything I put on it. I definitely made some mistakes and wasted quite some money on the looks or gadgets that I didn't need. Water bottle cage(s) being one of them. Like many cyclists who cares about every gram and color for the beloved bikes, I have/had one of lightest carbon water bottle cages, merely 15 grams and looks great on my bike, and I paid some serious money for it (also bought online). I was pretty proud of myself until recently:After several months of usage, I realized I forget to account for one key factor: the cage must "hold onto" the bottle. The pretty but thin carbon cage does not have pieces that are low enough to retain the lower part of the bottle. So, when I hit a pot hole, the bottle tends to "jump" out. The carbon fiber also started to lose its shape: my water bottle constantly slides out of the cage and I have to bend down to put the bottle back in the cage - that is very dangerous in a group ride. So I bought this cage on Amazon. Opened the box, I can't believe how much it actually looks like real carbon fiber and it weights almost the same as my 15 gram cage. Put a bottle on (I use Camelbak Podium), and it grabs onto the bottle really well and retains the bottle's bottom part as it should. For $9.99, this could be the best value and investment I put on my bike. Don't forget, since it is an alloy cage, you can bend it back in shape - you can't do that to carbon cages.I would strongly suggest this bottle cage to anyone. It is not worth spending the money on carbon cages while you can get equal or better performance form this cage. I am sold. Now it's time to work on my cycling skills. :)

Failed During a Triathlon
So I got this about three weeks ago to attach onto the back of my Fizik Tritone seat. The product was aggressively priced and shipped quickly. It came with all the parts necessary to attach it to my rear water bottle mounts, which took about 5 minutes in total. It is light and looks sturdy as advertised, and I was impressed by how it looked like it would snugly hold a water bottle. I tried fitting one of my larger bottles in the cage, a typical blender bottle, and it seemed to fit very well. When I actually began to use it, things fell apart. Literally. The first time I took it out on a training ride, it worked fine until my bottle was empty. The moment I hit a bump on the street, my water bottle when flying out of the cage. I had to unclip and retrieve the bottle from a busy street. A small hiccup I supposed and so I didn't think about it too much.Well, the second time I decided to put something in it was during a triathlon this past weekend. I decided to ditch the awkward-to-open blender bottle for a standard squirt water bottle from City Sports. I put my water/honey blend into the bottle and seated it in the bottle cage. When I grabbed my bike out of transition and took it over the mounting mat bump, the water bottle went flying out of the cage. I lost a good 10 seconds hobbling back to grab it and fit it in the water cage before beginning the bike leg of the race.Things only got worse as I was coming down the first technical climb on the course. Rocketing down a hill, I heard a thump. When I turned to look back, my bottle was gone. Mind you, the bottle was snug in the cage when the race began. I didn't have time to worry about it and continued along with the race. But, for the next hour, all I heard was an incessant rattling sound coming from the back of the bike...Well hours later, when I was retrieving my bike from transition, that's when I noticed it. The top screw and nut from the bottle cage was completely gone! The bottle cage was hanging upside down from the bottom screw and nut (loosely), which explains the rattling sound I heard throughout the ride.I wish I could give Ibera's bottle cage a higher rating, but the two times I used it, I had issue after issue with the product.

Look great, end up being inconvenient
I really wanted to like these. They were a great price, lightweight, great finish. But there are just so many things they miss.First off, they end up being left or right handed. Normally this wouldn't matter to me, but water bottle changes have become a chore because of this. It's like a moving game of Jenga I have to play, except I'm the thing that can fall. The cage on the down tube can only be used right handed, the cage on a saddle tube can only be used with the left hand. That means when you switch to your 2nd bottle, you have a point where you have to shift a bottle from one hand to the other to move your bottle from one cage to the other. The finish, while it looks nice, rubs off. And it stains all of your water bottles. It's very annoying. Finally, the straw that broke the camel's back for me is the fact that the cages will open up and get loose. When this happens, even a small bump can cause your bottles to fall out. It's exacerbated by the fact that one side of these cages is very easy to bottles to go in or out, so your bottles don't have to move much to go flying out.In the end, these cages might be for you, but they weren't for me.

Nice!
Incredible deal for the price. Very nice and sleek looking, light-weight, and best of all you really can pull the bottle out sideways which is crucial for smaller bike frames. The only slight downside might be that smaller bottles might be a little less secure with the side-pull design, but obviously this is easily solved by using a standard sized water bottle. Had previously purchased a standard Bontrager cage from my local bike shop for far more money and this easily beats it in looks and quality.Update: I snagged my shorts on the corner of the bottle cage and it bent far more easily than I expected. It's thin aluminum, assumed it would bend, but was surprised by how little force it took. Lowering the rating to 4 as it's still a very nice looking, functional bottle cage, just be careful not to snag it on anything and it should be fine.

Light weight holds bottle well but snags
I have this fitted on my Giant Roam and am fairly happy with the style colour and bottle grip. However, whenever I do not have a bottle in the cage and am wearing pants it always snags. Its hard to see from the pictures here but the front side is pretty much like a hook.It has not caused any accidents yet but I am afraid I will snap the metal one day.If you buy this otherwise great cage invest in some ankle cuffs.
