For $399 I dare you to find better!!!!
Ok, if you were like me you saw these on sale from $799 and said these must be great for that price and $399 a steal, you are correct. I was looking for something for my basement that sounded better than my polk tsi400's (great budget speaker). These bookshelf speakers blow them out the water. The TSI400s have 4 drivers (3) 5.25 and 1 tweeter. These are 1 woofer and 1 tweeter. I played these all week about 25 hours before reviewing them. I have them connected to a Marantz 5009 bi-amped and powered by an Emotiva UPA-700 (125w per channel 8ohm/185 per channel 4 ohm) these are 4 ohm speakers. I have a decent ear and I can tell you Nora Jones off of Pandora sounded like she was on my couch singing to me!!! My wife even said wow "it's like she is in here singing to us". I have the receiver set for 60hz and all bass 80hz and below goes to my sub. I have listened to everything from Michael Jackson, 2 pac, Nora Jones, Frank Sinatra. I will say they sound best when playing more acoustic music vice rap. If you were running these alone you would need a sub for Rap, with Nora you may not need one. They are rated down to 44hz but who knows. I will say that I hear things that most people can't hear in music and I am impressed. I have never listened to 5k speakers but I can't see how it gets too much better than the sound and clarity these produce. I researched everything and watched a video on youtube from a guy who had some and they sounded good thru the computer!! I cant afford Paradigm studio 20's with a baby on the way but oh well I'm happy with these. Only bad thing about these speakers is there is no center channel!! cmon man!! and epos doesnt make a center for less than $850 ouch. I plan on ordering another pair and selling the extra on ebay-so $600 for 3 of these speakers not bad. Hope this helps.

but these are the least musical and Chinese like speakers I've ever had
Honestly, I don't know what others listen for, but these are the least musical and Chinese like speakers I've ever had. The NHT super zero, the paradigm, the linn tukan, the lineaum even with RCA on the front, all blow this garbage speaker away.

Good in parts, great in others
So these are speakers that I own and are currently taking up residence in my 2 channel system. They're solid and heavily built (20lbs) with a fantastic look and finish. They have a sort of modern/Harbeth appeal. They're also no longer made by Epos. Epos has decided to go with the cheaper built (it's lighter but uses the same drivers) K-series. They K-series are an example of mod styling. Good for them, I hope Roger Daltrey has a pair. The Epic 2's posses several traits I'm found of but they're not entirely perfect. Their generous size, oversized voicecoil on the woofer and ferro-cooled tweeter allow them to very dynamic and play loudly without compression well in excess of 95db. The upper mids are fantastic with excellent resolution and the highs add appropriate sparkle. Their low-end response is appreciably deep. They do, however, lack some upper bass/lower mid resolution and it's here that they can cause the listener to occasionally feel detached from the music despite all of that clear resolution elsewhere.Having said that, they never disappoint. I love listening to them and do so endlessly every day for hours. Their solid construction and unflapable nature let me crank out Nirvana's blistering riffs or quietly appreciate the subtle inflections in Melody Gardot's voice. However, Epos doesn't make them anymore. So regardless if you feel my review has caused you to feel as if you must have them, you simply can't. Luckily, other companies make great speakers too. So you can go buy theirs. Because you're not mod, and you don't prefer cheaper built speakers sold at the same price no matter where they stick the port.

paired with rel sub woofer and i'm happy as a lark
paired with rel sub woofer and i'm happy as a lark.they play music very well ,with no bad effects that i hear with most speakers in this price range.i have them mounted on heavy stands with some weight on top ,this does tighten things up a bit.but these enclosers are fine on their own.in fact i would say that they are high grade.if you are looking for high end sparkel or what i call zingey over extended highs you won't find it here .these are very easy to listen to without being too polite.i find the pace and timing to be quite good also.i have been playing music for 50 years and the only thing a know for certain is what i like.and i do like this speaker alot.

Exceptional value for the money
Excellent speakers. I am driving them with a Volksamp Aleph 30 and they sound great. 30 watts into 8 and 40 into 4 is plenty in my medium sized room, listening to classical, jazz, rock. Very good definition, smooth sound, good sound stage, in no way fatiguing. I am thoroughly enjoying these speakers. My other speakers are Magnepan QR 1.6s and previously I have owned Totem model 1s.
