*Audio Book on CD Review only*
This review refers to the Audio Book on CD only. Great story - as always. So far I have only listened to the books narrated by Sophie Aldred. Her Flavia is full of zeal, excitement for her favourite subject (chemistry, of course) and quirky and thus just like I imagined her to be! Jayne Entwhistle, the narrator of this audio book, however, turns Flavia into a bone fide bromide! Her voice is for the most part monotonous and does the character a disservice. She could not possibly have made her sound less exciting which spoilt it for me.

Muddled mystery
Flavia continues to be as charming or as obnoxious as she has ever been depending on your reaction to her. What has changed is the quality of his mystery, homeopathy as a confidence trick? for the period it would have a viable alternative medicine, though not called such, as it is today and not for the Prince of Wales for one! Still do not know why the finger had to be hidden in Feely’s wedding cake either. The author makes a point of using contemporary language, or an approximation, so why do we have American spellings? ax/axe, specter/spectre, diarrhea/diarrhoea, sulfate/sulphate OK the lattermost is now universal but not at the time of the book’s setting - just plain irritating.

Light reading well-written some whimsy, no swearing and never gory
Alan Bradley writes amusing and insightfully; he makes chemistry seem fun to his young heroine and she has a bicycle called Gladys, which I rather like, a little whimsy...i have read all his ot her books and am glad to have this, the latest. He has a slight philosophical bent, gentle and incise humour as he describes adults. Bullying by sisters is a persistent theme but honour is satisfied and retaliation satisfying!Good for young and old; a real page-turner

Read the s the latest and I think it is bedt to read the other 8 or 9 first.
Tongue in cheek for this one. Some hilarious bits. Our 11 year old super brain detective Flavia is now in a partneship with Dogger, the faithful retainer. I mean detective agency type partnership. Sad not to have her sisters in full flow demonstrating their usual love/ hate relationship. I have loved everyone of the Flavia books. These are mainly for adults but our 11 year old grandaughter has read the first two.

Wonderful
I loved this book just as I have loved the previous nine books in the series. I can only hope that there will be more.

Utterly brilliant!
I can never get enough of Flavia and the enigmatic Dogger. Good mysteries in themselves the magnificent language, setting in post WW2 England and above all devilish wit truly make this Canon unique.

Great characters but my least favourite of the series
I was really disappointed with this latest Flavia De Luce mystery as it was hard to get into, the case jumped around a lot and was tricky to follow but most of all, the story of the family and individual relationships didn’t progress. That’s usually the best bit. I wanted to know more about Dogger, his past, I wanted to see how the sisters relationships could progress now they are older. Its my least favourite of the series and I’ve read them all so far.
