RS232 is STILL relavant
I purchased these for a project for work. I need them for the connections and found they worked perfectly.

Need to have for Cisco
A must have cable for setup on a Cisco router or switch. There are no issues with these cables, connect one to the Cisco equipment and the other into your computer or laptop. You will need the free software "Putty" to use these. You can't go wrong for the money on these as you will need them.

Works great in OS/2
Driver not needed for use in ArcaOS 5.1 (an updated OS/2 platform). Works fine in Windows 10/11 as well. For Logitech serial mouse and with Kantronic KPC-3+ ham radio TNC.

Console cable for Jetson
This cable works between my Linux (Debian stable) PC and the serial console jack (a 9-pin male D-sub) on the Nvidia Jetson TK1 board. In a terminal window on the PC, as the root user, "stty 115200 < /dev/ttyUSB0 ; cu -l/dev/ttyUSB0" and you get a console where you can see the U-Boot and kernel messages. No gender changer, no null modem adapter needed.

Works with some serial devices but not others
Did not work with my PoE switch. I got some gender changers and was able to use a different USB-to-serial cable successfully with the same switch.Update: ... but it does work fine with my Davis Vantage Pro 2 weather station. I would guess the peculiarity is because of my Nortel switch's weirdness.

So far, so good. Working null modem adapter.
Does what it says on the package: I can communicate between two PCs with this cable and a male DB9 on the other computer. I'm writing a telecommunications program, and I needed to be able to debug the program on my PC and another physical device.I was able to get reliable communication at up to 230Kbps. This is twice as fast as the 115Kbps on PCs with a hardware UART, so I'm satisfied. As others have said, this is wired as a NULL MODEM, or DCE device. For most use cases, this is not the cable you're looking for, and you'd need a DTE connector. This is for connecting two computers together, not connecting a computer and a modem.

Before I bought it their customer reviews were answered saying ...
Before I bought it their customer reviews were answered saying it worked well with windows 10 and had the 2303 suffix RA for the Prolific Chip. It didn't work with my link between my laptop and Omron PLC using windows 10. I deleted and reloaded the software and it said not compatible. Possible it was a clone chip we were warned about. I purchased a USB to Serial cable from Omron with Windows 10 Drivers. I installed the drivers and it works every time I use it to hook my laptop to the Omron PLC. I returned DTECH to Amazon for credit.
