Powerhouse PHX-15 High Performance Axe, Black

This axe is just what we were looking for. It is very well made, well-balanced, and ergonomic. It works great, and we expect it to last, but it took consider work to sharpen the blade. It came with a cover over the blade, so we expected it to be at least somewhat sharp but it wasn't. It took about 30 minutes or so of constant work to sharpen the blade with a hand sharpener, and then it worked like a charm. The price was definitely worth the extra effort. I would highly recommend buying it, but be prepared to sharpen it upon arrival.

I have been cutting down a number of trees on my property this summer and wanted the wood for my fire pit. This product shipped so fast that it seemed like I went to the home center and just picked it up. I was excited when it arrived and I started using it right away. It works like a dream. It is well balanced which means that it won't tire you as quickly. Plus, it cut through hardwood apple and oak with ease.

Tried two of these axes. Both times the head came loose within the first 3 swings. I found that the heads were not fitted properly to the handles and the gaps were filled with putty. They used 2 circular steel wedges in the top. A oblong mask was used to paint over the filler and make it look like the handle was fitted properly. The quality of the materials is good... hickory handle with good grain, and the head is well formed and sharp. Not sure why they don't put it together properly? Very Sad!

Axe was dull when it arrived. It appears to be hardened, as it took some effort to put a sharp edge on it. It cut decently. Good balance. Right amount of head weight to produce reasonable wood chips.

Surprised my husband with a new ‚toy‘, as we are chopping up some trees in the yard. I gave this one a try and got a positive surprise. Looks so much better in real than in the pics. I attached some of mine, ... and feels super sturdy. I might need another one for myself, as this was so much fun to see his satisfaction during splitting a log. Looks like splitting butter 😂 The axe feels great, easy to hold and to use. The material is so much better than my old one from a local store. I believe this axe will survive us and our yard.

Came dull with a chunk out of the blade and a loose handle. I have fixed both issues but I shouldn't have had to.

We recently had a tornado strike here in Oklahoma. We had 7 large trees come down on the property. A local crew helped in clearing most, but I needed an axe to trim off some of the logs. I purchased my Powerhouse axe and it came early today, I put it to work almost immediately and WOW....what a great axe. I love the feel of the wooden handle and the blade is perfect. We used it until dark, brought it in and sharpened it and will be out again in the morning with my new Powerhouse PHX -11 700 High Performance Axe!!!

I surched for a quality inexpensive axe at local stores and on Amazon. I found this one being the best one for the price, vaule and good quality. I recommend this type of axe for camping,hunting and general outdoors use. I use this axe in my back yard for preparation of dry fire wood that I use in my outdoor fireplace and camping stove. I also use thi axe in my back yard for landscaping of trees and bushes. I highly recommend this axe for the value, quality at a fair price. (RLM)
