Q: Would this work to remove fine sand in a flow rate of 3 gallons per minute with a pressure of 15 psi?

Hydrocyclones have a pretty small efficiency window so looking at the chart provided by the manufacturer so it would likely work to a degree but not at the maximum efficiency.

Q: Hi, what's the size of the inlet and outlet?

BSP and NPT thread are not the same. You have to use an adapter to convert between the 2 thread types. They are close but not the same. Google it if you don't believe me.

Q: Are the pipe threads on this unit compatable with US threads?

I bought one of these a few months ago and haven't installed it. I just went to check on it, and they are not NPT threads, at least not on mine. The Plastica Alfa website says this is available with both NPT and BSP threads. It looks like mine came with BSPT. I can't say for sure though because I don't have any BSPT fittings to check. For the price it's ok

Doesn't get 100% of sand out I'd say 80% so for the price I'd say it's not bad.

BSP threads not interchangeable with NPTs.

I’m am returning this item. BSP threads are definitely not comparable with NPTs.
