Love Actually [Blu-ray]

Timeless movie. Something for everyone, except, as most modern day 21st century films go, gratuitous sex scenes add nothing, and frankly, aside from offensive, detract from a good film. Superstar cast did justice to their characters. Job well done.When will Hollywood learn, American audiences aren't that dumb. No one watches a feel good holiday film just to bleep out stupidly placed parts. It didn't sell the film, so what the heck is it doing there ? Odds, are, foreign film makers don't make these kinds of errors so often. Any good rookie camera person or director could have done a better job capturing just what was needed. Curious, what were people thinking? When will you trust your creativity? What were you thinking? Is the film industry insecurity so grand, fear the film wouldn't sell?The most important aspect of any good film or song or book is determined by the ability of the main character or voice to convey yearnings to the radiance. 'Love Actually' has many sub stories, moving along a timeline which converge at the end. Less than six degrees of separation here. A great script, catchy lyric's or terrific story line won't stick if the yearnings are not conveyed and received by the audience. (That's why B movies succeed, simple songs grab us, and romance novels capture our hears). Those folks get it.Could have been a 5 star movie if the misplaced mock sex screens were omitted. Yep, this film may have made a lot of money, enough money, but there sure could have been a lot more. Why settle? That said, see the film, shield your teen kids eyes and maybe yours own for a few scenes. The characters do grab your heart. Too bad directors and associated staff most likely not read the reviews anymore. But, ya never know.

A sweet, heartwarming story that some consider a holiday movie... I suppose. It has a great cast, that recently did a 'reunion' press tour a few weeks ago, which triggered my purchase. A chick flick that my husband loves. In my opinion good for everyone over say 13 or so due to some mature themes and language - just my personal thoughts! We also purchase via stream. You can download to most any device and no DVD to store or later in the landfill.  Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. All of my reviews reflect my honest, personal experience with the reviewed item - your experience may be different. I am not influenced by any outside source. Bottom line, I pay for all my stuff, just like you do.

Although this could be considered a Christmas movie, it’s a great anytime feel-good movie. I did have a bit of a problem with the scene of the depiction of a young couple who met as actors on a porn movie set. Although there was no actual sex act, the depiction of them pretending as actors for the movie is pretty graphic. I would not recommend this for anyone under 18, although nowadays, it would seem 12 year olds would understand what’s going on. Beside that, it’s the kind of movie that leaves one feeling happy. We need more movies that leave us feeling good.

I think it is the best movie which directed by Richard Curtis and I love this movie so much.So it's my fav' movie in my heart of all times!

My new favorite movie. Had me wanting to watch it til the end. I laughed, got teary eyed, got mad, and surprised. Great well known actors. Recommend this to any adults as there are some mature scenes.

Simply one IC the best movies ever made. The combination of phenomenal stars, brilliant writing, and honest and thoughtful emotion is very rare in anything—far less movies yes, it’s mawkish and sentimental but better emotional power than so many others. Compares with Princess Bride,Citizen Kane, and other such rare films.

If you're seeking a romantic comedy that doesn't hold back on explicit emotion and strives for those dramatic climaxes with the romantic music soaring on cue, this film is for you. This heartwarming and funny movie simultaneously tells numerous different storylines. It has a great plot, a stellar cast, and is about life and love.

Cute story. There was a time when my grown son and his wife used the word "actually" all the time. I couldn't figure out why they felt the need to use the work actually all the time until I rented this movie recently and then It made sense. It was right about the time this movie came out. It's a cute story.

Mittelmaessiger Film trotz exzellenter Darsteller - aber kein Film, den man mit Kindern (und der Oma!) an Weihnachten zusammen ansieht. Freigabe ab 6 - aber es gibt Nacktszenen, in denen Pornos gespielt werden (OK - die Darsteller tun nur so - aber fuer Kinder sieht es sehr echt aus). War ehrlich geschockt, meine Tochter (12) meinte nur, "Mama, macht den Schxxx aus. Das kannst du alleine gucken." Hatte etwas erwartet wie Notting Hill oder Harry & Sally....und die meiste Zeit war es auch so (nur nicht so gut) - aber die entsprechenden Szenen, die sollten bei Freigabe ab 6 nicht zu sehen sein.

I have been trying to find out why I like this film - but I am at a loss to explain why. It is to a great extent a feel-good film - although there is sadness in it too - for some of the characters. The film is built up round ten small "love- stories", which are partly intertwining by the characters knowing each other or meeting at work or at social occasions. The dialogue is amusing, sometimes because it is rather unexpected in the setting in question ( like the naked porn actors who discuss politics when at work) or the author and the house maid talking to each other each in his or her language - English and Portuguese - but along the same lines, as if they understand what the other is saying..I rather fell for the story about the charming little boy and his step-father - t, hree or four love- stories in one, you might say,Some of the deleted scenes are well worth looking at too.I don't think I have persuaded anybody that this film is worth seeing - but try it all the same, or read some of the other reviews, which are clearer and better than mine.

Film etc. fine, it's Love Actually, reviews elsewhere. Audio in a number of languages which is why I got it, as are subtitles. The only issue is English subtitles for Aurélia are burned on the image which is very irritating when you don't want to watch it in English.

'Love Actually' is a Christmas themed Rom-Com starring many great actors such as Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Kiera Knightley and Hugh Grant. I thought this film was quite enjoyable to watch around Christmas time and the actors made it even more magical. The soundtrack was also very catchy and features many great songs. There were some good rememberable comedy moments and the ending gave me mixed emotions. However, I didn't like the beginning of the film as I was wondering "What is going on?" because the film kept on changing scenes to different families and people. But when I did start getting use to it I think it worked very well. This is a Christmas Classic not to be Missed.

Watched this some long time ago when scheduled on television and thought I'd treat myself to the dvd with the wonderful Alan Rickman and, my goodness, what a treat. A real spirit lifting film with some excellent music. Not too sure what the Martin Freeman storyline added (shan't watch The Hobbit in quite the same way again) but the others caught me laughing or sobbing or both at the same time; especially the Alan Rickman/Emma Thompson storyline and that with Liam Neeson and his "stepson". Hugh Grant has surprisingly good comedic timing.
