You get what you pay for
I'll start with the good things. It has all the features I've come to expect from D-Link, most notably a DHCP reservation list. The dual-band wireless is nice. All my Apple devices connect flawlessly to on the 5GHz channels. All things Android in my house are still stuck competing with my microwave. Gigabit ethernet was a must for me. And the lack of bright, flashing, and distracting lights lets it sits quietly in my living room without drawing attention. The bad: The WiFi is buggy like every other d-link product I've had, but I've found that setting a schedule that turns the guest wifi network on or off causes the wifi hardware to reboot on a regular basis, which seems to mitigate it getting into a disconnected state. The MAJOR issue for me is that port forwarding would work for me. Even after a lengthy investigation and a call to D-Link support, all the could do was tell me to set up everything as a Virtual Server, which doesn't let you forward a range of ports. They expressed no interest in solving the problem or filing a bug report. And that lack of interest in making a good product really speaks to the quality of the software in these things. This might be my last D-Link product ever.

Works very well...
I am quite Pleased good Speed & connectivity. Some of the router congiguration could be improved. The DDNS feature causes Netbios issues if you are using networked appliances like a printserver

Works fine until it doesn't. Your mileage may vary.
Purchased in August 2012 and had worked fine up until yesterday. All the front LEDs were flashing in sync and any wired or wireless devices could not connect. The stock interface was full of detailed settings and easy to use. This model was also compatible with DD-WRT which made it even better. Overall it worked well while it lasted but I expected it to last a little longer. I still have a DIR 655 that was purchased a while before this one and it is still chugging away.

Amazing router with exceptional capabilities! (UPDATED)
This router is simply amazing. As a DIR-655 owner at home, I am a fan of D-Link. So I decided to buy this one for work (being the IT admin is one of my many hats - that's how it works in small businesses, but I digress). We have about 40 devices connecting to this router, probably 20 of which are wireless (half and half 2.4GHz and 5GHz). We've gone through 4 routers in the last couple years, all of which dropped signals and/or were slow. Our latest trashed router was a Netgear WNDR3700 with DD-WRT (had to install it since it refused to work with stock firmware and was a crap interface) installed on it.Right out of the box, this was by far the easiest router I have ever setup. I can't speak for the auto-setup as I opted to set it up manually. But like the DIR-655, I feel like this is the most intuitive and easy-to-use web interface I've ever used. It was straight-forward and everything just worked, which is more than I can say for many of the routers I have purchased. Now that the router is setup and in-use, all I can say is that this thing is blazingly fast. The Netgear I was using before was usually fast, but there were times when it would slow down. Also, our primary database for work, which is located on one of our computers, would *always* act slow. With the DIR-835, everything is super speedy! Frankly, we assumed it was the software running the database, so I was shocked when it began running so much faster. The entire office is a lot more productive now simply because we aren't sitting there staring at a spinning blue circle in Windows anymore. This is my second D-Link router, and I am a big fan now. One good router could just be lucky, but the second one (different model, no less) seals the deal for me. D-Link for life!Update 8/21/12: After only a week, the router has simply stopped working. Hard resets do nothing. I'm sending in for a replacement from Amazon and will return my 5-star rating if the new one works. Bad units happen, but if both go bad, then sorry, D-Link. The bad review is sticking.Update 8/27/12: I've been using the replacement now for 5 days, and while it still works, it requires a daily reboot. I'm sending this back for a full refund, and I suggest everyone stay away. I don't know what's going on with D-Link because my DIR-655 has been working flawlessly for years now.

Works Great
I bought this to replace my old D-Link. This one was easy to setup, great coverage and fast! I don't pay attention to some reviewer that have no common sense when it comes to technical issues. There are a lot of people on here that no nothing about networking that complain about a product they bought. Most are Dems I'm sure. If you don't know how to use a product don't buy it!!!!

Nice legs
For a 2011 device this has some nice hardware. The stock firmware was decent, but, with lede + sqm on this its a little power house that is performing much better than I expected for something so old. The wifi range is typical so no complaints there either.

I would recommended this device to anyone that is technologically savy
Will a little technological know how, I installed DD-WRT on the router and after purchasing a D-link Ethernet over Powerline adapter, this device seems to run well. The wireless is not dropping and the connection is stable. I would recommended this device to anyone that is technologically savy.

Router lockups
I have had good luck with DLink products in the past. However this router has not had the attention that their other products receive, probably due to the low sales volume. They haven't even made a support forum for this model on DLink's website.I purchased this to replace a Linksys WRT54GS. I was looking forward to the extra coverage and speed. While this does provide that, it also provides a daily required reboot when the router stops working. I have mine configured as an access point instead of a router, so that may be why the daily crashes slipped through the testing process. Or it could be a number of issues, but its not worth the time to troubleshoot, when I can just get a Linksys and it just works. The firmware is v1.01 released in Jan '12. I strongly recommend not getting this product until they release some firmware updates to hopefully solve these problems. But it has been 7 months since the last update, so I'm not holding my breath. You may have better luck with the other Dlink routers that are more popular. Personally, I'm going to try my luck with an upgraded Linksys router.

Not up to standards
We had an old router before we bought this and it seemed to be faster, the advertising and the price for this is insane for what it really is a $50 router
