BUDDYGO Car Battery Charger and Maintainer, 6A Fully Automatic Smart Battery Chargers for Cars, Automotive and Motorcycle Batteries

The title of the review says it all. I've used it for months now, on average two or three times a month. It works well. The build quality is excellent and the operation is simple. The digital smarts in this charger really impressed me; especially at the price point. My vehicle sits without much usage these days and when I do run it I have the AC blasting and I also have some parasitic equipment that runs 24/7 and can run my battery low over a couple of weeks. It's a diesel engine, commercial grade vehicle so it requires quite bit of cranking amps. My new very large capacity battery went too low for successful cranking twice relying on the alternator and short trips to keep the battery charged between long down periods then I got this little guy and I've not had the slightest problem since. The digital charge voltage/amp meter on it seems dead on. I've spent quite a bit of time monitoring it while it was charging my battery and kept tabs with a separate meter for a while to make sure the thing was doing what it was supposed to and not some some digital junk in a box. At peak it puts out 5.7amps sustained (indefinitely at 32 deg C or below) so it lives exactly to the advertisement of a 6amp rated charger. This is one device I don't know how I ever lived without. Once you set the charger for your battery type by pressing a button you literally just connect it to your battery terminals, plug it in and forget about it for 6 hours (time will of course vary depending upon your battery capacity and charge state; larger- lower battery = more time) then come back to a 100% fully charged battery, something you don't get from short drives with your alternator. The charger displays "FUL" when it's done and automatically shuts off so you can leave it all night and disconnect in the morning. The charge cycle is perfect to maintain the health of your battery, with a de-sulphate stage at high voltage to break loose microscopic plate build up then a ramp charging cycle to get the battery ready to receive the steady state 5.7amps for however long it takes. The unit has a built in fan which also goes through a self test for a couple of minutes during the de-suplhate phase. The guys who designed and built this piece of equipment did a great job. At the price point it will definitely pay back for itself over the life of one battery (maximize battery life and stop that dreaded dead battery in the middle of nowhere) if you use it when your battery needs it. With a good diesel engine, a large capacity lead acid battery and this little gizmo who needs a Tesla :-)

Easy to use

Easy to use. It helps to have this in your vehicle just in case. It comes in handy when your battery dies. It doesn't take up a lot of room.

It's a good little charger that I use to charge and maintain my ATV battery, and I use it to maintain the battery of my classic car in winter. It's easy to use and of good quality. I'll buy another one for maintenance.

Advertised as a 6 amp charger but even on a depleted battery (30%) it refused to charge at over 1.5 amps, also the battery charge level readings were consistantly low by 2 points.After 3 days of charging it showed the battery was full but voltage numbers again were 5 points low.To many issues, sending back and will NEVER believe Amazon reviews again, to many times glowing reviews and junk.

The media could not be loaded.  So far so good. Better my expensive car battery charger. Posted charging marine batteries doing the desulfating on all of them. Cross my fingers .

Purchased this to maintain my boat battery system.Works great.Going to buy a second one for vehicle and mower use.
