Shock Gems

I love this product. I am new to the hot tub owners club and I am glad I read up on this product before buying all of the products it takes to perform the job meant for a chemist! My hot tub was purchased from a family member, so when we set it up I ran Clean Start thru the hot tub as directed on the bottle. You would not believe the amount of gunk that came out. Bleh! (I plan on doing this every year after seeing all of that) Then I filled up the hot tub and zip tied a Nature2 Spa Stick Mineral Sanitizer to the water filter. (Reviews said not to use it with the leg that holds it up, simply attach it to the filter, the stick can fall down into the water pump), added Spa Silk as instructed. Our water is clean and feels wonderful without the chemical smell. After we get out of the hot tub we drop one Shock Gem per person in the spa. (Sometimes if it's two of us I will only use one and then the next time use two). We spray out the water filter every few weeks and add Silk Balance (3 oz for 400 gal) twice a week if we haven't used it much or three times if we are using it almost daily. I haven't experience with the chemistry set of chemicals that some other hot tub owners use, but this is easy for me and anybody can add a shock gem when they get out. You don't have to test water, even my teenagers can do this.

We’ve been using these Shock Gems for 18 months and have been extremely pleased with the results. What works best for our Hot Springs spa is to throw a pod in after every use and run the clean cycle. When we come back a day or two later, the water is clear and slime free.

This product is great… A little pricey, but perfect for regular use.

I don't know that they did much of anything. When I change it the spa filter the clear outer wrappings are never completely dissolved. Not sure I like that. Water seemed to stay clear though but I used chlorine every few days too.

Lots of the packets are broken so the chemical tends to be messy when removed from the container for use.

Tried this product as it was a cheaper alternative to the Spa store. When the container was first opened, there were 6 empty packages and several broken packages. Wrappers do not consistently dissolve, have floating particles that appear to be from the packaging. Chemicals do appear to work, but the quality is not as expected.

So convenient!
