Galaxina [Blu-ray] [1980]

fully expected to turn this off after 10 min, but found myself enjoying it immensely. Yes, its cheesy, yes the special effects are atrocious, yes the jokes are ham fisted... but my god, what a hoot. I loved the spaceship scense such as changing gears and screeching to a halt in space, loved the terribad aliens makeup and stereotypical crew. there are some good jokes and lots of sight gags and 'borrowing' from other classic sci fi films. Some named stars in the cast and they all did a fine job, not taking the film or themselves too serious. it was pretty entertaining overall

Love this movie, a classic that’s hard to find. Shipped fast and no blemishes

I am a big fan of comedy, sci-fi, and 80s B movies. However, this is well below a B movie and I could only describe it as terrible. The movie is clearly meant to be comedy, but in the entire 90 minutes there are only a couple of moderately clever lines to barely chuckle at. Hardly anything happens during the movie that makes any real sense. The music must mostly be public domain (classical), but it alternates between being super cliché and having no relation to what is happening in the scene at all. There are a couple scenes that you could call action, but they are completely boring. Probably a half hour of the film is cuts to the ship flying in space to terrible visual and sound effects, or other similar scenes that add nothing but unnecessary length to the movie. If you want to watch 20 plus minutes of a bad model ship flying in space to, for some reason, wind sound effects, this may be the movie for you. Otherwise I cant recommend it.

Genuinely awful, and so much fun because of that! Seriously politically incorrect, but no worse than a stand up comedian routine, but if jokes from 40 years ago offend, this is not the goofy, 70's lifestyle influenced, scifi spoof for you. Lots of "in" jokes for people who've seen the original Star Wars, original Alien, and maybe even Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

Yeah, the dialogue ain't classic, the effects,sets, and costumes are beyond cheesy. That said, after a couple of Earth Colas this sci-fi comic confection grows on you. I didn't feel restless or bored and though the gags are hit-or-miss enough worked to give "Galaxina" the thumbs up. It also helps that the film has a game and engaging cast. As for Dorothy R. Stratten, the former Playmate of the Year who was murdered by her husband prior to the film's release, she is drop dead gorgeous as Galaxina. Granted, there aren't enough opportunities to fluorish when you're playing a white spandex clad robot but there is a little in Stratten's performance that suggest that she could have had a career in film. There's something a little touching in Stratten's scenes where she longs to be human so that she can pursue a relationship with the film's perfunctory lead, Stephen Macht. In a nutshell this film may aim low but I found it eminently more enjoyable than some of the latter day pretentious CGI flicks.

The quality of this movie itself does not justify any low ratings. Sadly, Dorothy Stratten left us such a small body of work that we must cherish what little there is independent of failings in the movies themselves. Had she appeared is more movies would could rate more objectively.This is fair enough for the era as far as low budget movies of the day goes. Every scene with Ms. Stratten reminds us to make the best with what fleeting opportunity may present.

I love this 80’s spoof show!

Really bad movie

I did think it was a good film. But nothing that I expected it to be.

Buena película pero mala edición.Creo que es lo peor edición que sacó Tema, imagen borrosa, audio castellano con ruído que se nota que lo sacaron del VHS, además de no escucharse claras las voces.En tema de extras, pues lo que vienen acostumbrados a darnos, un trailer, filmografías selectas del director y la ficha artística.Una pena que se dignen a editar esta peli y lo hagan tan cutre y eso que pone que es del 35 aniversario... me recuerda a las ediciones asquerosas sin licencia de Resen o Llamentol.

Com imagem bastante razoável, ao contrário de muitas criticas...considero obra pitoresca e sensual que recomendo. A parte negativa foi ter recebido um BDR que já fora aberto e posteriormente fechado com cola tudo forte. Tive dificuldade em aceder ao Interior do estojo e não consegui retirar todas as marcas causadas pela cola tudo que queimou a case proteção do bdr

... und "Schund" sei hier als höchstes Lob verstanden. Klar ... man könnte sich weiterhin intellektuell hochstehende Werke anschauen, aber haben Sie mal Tarkovski gelesen? Tja ... schade um die Filme. Nein. Schluß jetzt!Trotz der Tatsache, dass bei der DVD ungefähr zur Filmmitte mindestens eine Minute fehlt ein absolut empfehlenswertes Werk zumindest für diejenigen unter uns, die den Hang zur Hochkultur überwunden haben - und das ist hier nicht ironisch gemeint.Und für Kenner des Genres noch eine ungemein trashige Parodie ... was schaut sich der Böse an? Einen Ausschnitt aus einem mindestens genauso trashigen Werk aus der SF - Geschichte ... so muss das sein! Schauspieler? Nennen wir sie nicht so - warum auch ... träumen wir nicht alle von einer willigen Roboterin im engen silbernen Dress? Wie war das? Ich höre Widerspruch? Das mag ich gar nicht glauben ... ;-)
