Works well, looks good both physically and optically.
Works fine with the Canon 200-800 RF. A little slow at 1600mm F18, but perfectly fine in bright sunlight shooting 1/1000th. Sharpness looks good on both the R7 and R5MarkII. Stabilization works but at 1600mm it still has a bit of movement even with stabilization on. A little bitter pill to swallow concerning the price, but it's really well made. With the current cost of lens, the price is in line. I do miss the EF 1.4 and 2x prices though. The paint doesn't seem to match the same tone as the 200-800's paint scheme.

Awesome for super zoom
Does an awesome job, but a bit on the expensive side. Compared to other brands, this one cost more and there isn't a lot of science behind it. But it is good quality and does what it does, making a 400mm do 800mm. Just know a few things! It'll be half the f-stop, twice the shake, the image stabilization will not be as good, and you are going to think about ISO more. That said, I've had a lot of fun being able to reach twice as far. I've done the solar eclipse, moon, sunsets, birds, and other animals.

Great lense doubler
Very pleased with this lense doubler. Canon is my go to and this lives up to my expectations.

Nice if you can compensate for 2 stops of light
I used it on RF 200-800 F/6.3-9 and it does good job if there is enough light. I set aperture to minimum + a little bit more, and then compensate with shutter speed and ISO based on situation. So there is no magic - if we give up two stops of light, better we can compensate it with shutter speed (slow moving subjects) or ISO (good enough environment light). Then results are great. Here I provide images of Moon with and without (cropped) converter. One may argue they are the same, but they are not. Image with converter has actually a little more information in it. The image is sharper. It depends on quality of lens a lot. The images attached are taken with non-L lens. Kudos to Canon for making this product transparent for AF and other features on camera. As of price - this could be made more affordable I guess. Converter is expensive but I am keeping it.

Excellent purchase
Very impressed with this extender. Yes the price is a little steep and giving up a couple of F stops are disadvantages. But if you look at buying the cheaper Canon 800mm, you're looking at an aperture of F11 at $1200 or to go with the pro 800mm lens, you're looking at $18,000. So you have to weight the advantages to disadvantages to your needs. I primarily use this for outdoor nature photography so I can compensate for the higher f stops. I use a R6 M2 with a 100-400 RF lens, here are a couple of samples with extender. Dragonfly: shutter 1/1250, F16, 2000 ISO Butterfly very overcast day: 1/1250, F16, 3200 ISO Painted Bunting dark shade and tripod: 1/80, F16, 3200 ISO

Great RF 2x extender for a Canon R5
Canon quality and reliability. Works well with an RF 100-500 lens. Excellent quality wildlife photos, while still getting all of the auto-focus and related functionality of the R5.

Great for Lunar, or Solar maginification.
Bought this to expand the 800mm Canon lens i bought to be able to take closer pictures of the sun and moon. Very light chromatic aberration. Stabilization has a hard time handling the zoomed focal length. Overall though, a great tool to use as long as you have compatible lenses!

I have the 800mm f11 tele lens. To get even more magnification I got the 2x extender. Its optical performance and its built is very good. You get an excellent product for the relatively high price. So I think it is the best possible tool to get a "1,600mm lens". I mainly take pics of planets or the Moon with this lens and I hoped for even more details using the extender. Attached there are cropped pictures of the waning Moon showing good details. The price to pay for magnification: The field of view is a quarter and therefore it is more difficult to "find" your objects on the night sky. Depending on the tripod you are using it is magnifying also the possible shaking. So focusing gets quite tricky (with these objects manual focus is the only option). Even with the 10 sec self timer there might still be a little swing blurring the picture. It is not only the magnification. The combination is not as well balanced as the single lens but it is still working. So I got a remote switch and I hope that this helps to avoid the shakes. I did try the lens/extender combination from the tripod on other objects and it worked even with autofocus. A sunny day for sure is helping. I did not try handheld photos and I think it would not be easy though the image stabilizer would help. As the aperture is only 22 using the 2x extender you will need a high ISO for hand held photos. Using the tripod you have of course the choice of lower speed and lower ISO unless you take photos of moving objects.
