The material is that of the compact sawdust boards, I don't remember what kind of wood that is called. But the thickness of the wood was great! Made the little box super sturdy and hold up for what I was using it. The wood is super soft, I was originally thinking of painting it, but with the softness I haven't bothered to, especially since the color was almost identical to what I wanted. My use for this box was to flip it on it's side and make a wine bar box that hid the boxed wine I was using. This ended up functioning perfectly for what I needed, it's storage capacity is a little more than three boxes of Franzia wine.

I have a bunch of stuff from this company and really like the quality and look. This time I painted some of the panels before assembling and am happy with how it turned out. The wood takes paint or stain very well. I got the natural finish, by the way. The wood Kirigen uses is somewhere between balsa wood and pine as far as density goes, yet it's still pretty sturdy. I just wouldn't use their stuff in an area that's going to take a major beating. I feel comfortable putting these in my son's room for toy storage though, if that gives you any idea of my confidence. The nice thing about the light-weight wood is that it, well, weighs less. Problems: There was one small flaw on one panel, not sure what it was, looked like some grey caulking but it was really small and I probably only noticed because I was getting so personal with these things. Also, the felt stickers were too big. The bottom panel is inset a little bit and the edge only has space for a 1/4" felt stickers but the ones they give you are 1/2" so you either cut a wedge out or fold them down a bit. Assembly is zero problem, I don't know what people are complaining about. Can you insert 12 screws? Then you can slap these together in five minutes each.

Probably should give 5 stars, but... I bought 5 of these, and though I was very careful and slow screwing the pieces together, I still managed to split one of the panels. Probably should have been more careful about making sure the screw was lined up perfectly perpendicular to the wood and not on even a small angle. Having said that, the boxes are perfect for my needs, look good, and look like they'll hold up pretty well. I'm using them as backstop / storage for 24" deep shelves. So I can put clothes in them, or whatever I want, and slide them to the back of a shelf, then stack clothese in front. Better than having two stacks of clothes, where the front stack tends to lose clothes behind the stack. They're also attractive. $32 each? A little high, I'd say. But... not too much higher than they should be, which I think is about $25.

Bought these for extra storage for kids books. They are good quality and look like the pictures. They are actually sturdier than I anticipated. A little pricey for a box but overall would purchase again- We ended up getting. Three all together.

PERFECT box! I've been on the hunt for a box just this size that was both attractive and affordable. I needed it to expand the amount of space on my nightstand, and also provide a more stable base for my lamp, which has attempted to jump to its death on a tile floor rather than be subjected to the humiliation of sitting on a stack of books! It is sturdy, but not 'klunky'. The bamboo is very attractive.. and it was easy to put together! All the parts fit perfectly!

I ordered the dark box, and I received a lighter color than expected. I can live with that - It was easy to put together,, although the instructions did not make sense. $28 is too much money for these thin boxes. I read the reviews prior to purchasing, but thought I would go ahead and buy them anyway. I am sorry I spent the money. They are not strong enough for what I want, although I am sure I can find a use for them. Look at the pictures that have been submitted because that is exactly what they look like. Cheaper looking box. I purchased the smaller one. If you are looking for a box and need it to fit that will work for you, please make sure that you take the measurements and compare them to the boxes sold here. I would not represent these to someone that needs a little sturdier box.

Great size. Works perfectly as a little book storage box for my bedside table with the projector resting on top. Great quality and easy to put together

The box looks great, and I’d absolutely recommend it. Make sure you note that it comes in pieces that need to be assembled- I missed that bit, but all you need is a screwdriver to put it together.

Solid, easy to assemble, good quality

I bought this to store vinyl, and they fit well. When filled, they’re just a little too heavy to comfortably use as easy access vinyl storage under the hifi. They look great though!
