Fascinating, and tons of information
If you're wanting to design creatures, are interested in people who have designed some of the creatures you've seen in the movies (Star Wars, and some others), or just like pictures of animals, this is going to be interesting. Hundreds of pictures including bone structure and muscles as well as the final creature.Advice on how to get started doing it yourself, too. And easy to read.

You will love this even if you are not an artist
I met Terryl Whitlach at a con years ago and we bought a book for our daughter from her she drew a tiny little creature for her on first page and she was blown away. I bought this for her for Christmas becasue Terryl has been a huge influence on her and her art. This book convinced my young artist to explore realism and to learn anatomy. This is a big deal for a 6th grader to put this much time and effort into upping her game like this. It is all due to this book. Now when she draws creatures and animals she dedicates time to study anatomy and try to figure out how the creature would work. She also does animal studies to see how animals move. ALL because of this book. This book is a fascinating page turner and the creatures are so realistic and imaginative. you don't have to be an artist to enjoy this amazingly detailed book.

Reading Between the Lines
This is a fantastic book that delves into how Terryl Whitlach designs her amazing creatures. This is not a how-to, step by step, instruction booklet. This book is more so meant for those interested in understanding the nuances of creature design and applying broad principles to their own work. Whether you're a beginner, experienced, or an art enthusiast, it's at least important to know what type of book it is and what your expectations before diving into the material.

Importance of anatomy knowledge for creating and drawing creatures
After reading her books, Terryl Whitlach became one of my professional raw-models. Through this 3 book collection (I only bought this one and "Principles of creature design"), she shows you her work and process, as well as her "rules" to achieve a realistic believable creature. Don't expect a detailed drawing tutorial because it is not that. It is more like a very complete portfolio with very useful advises from the author. You will find some examples of animals and their full anatomy. The printing quality of this book is remarkable; one can truly appreciate her art in detail. The binding is very good as well. The author's writing is brief and clear. If you are into animal anatomy drawing and/or character concept design... well, you must have Whitlach's work in hand. You will find this book useful and nurturing.
