The Far Side® Theme-a-Month 2021 Off-The-Wall Calendar

I love Gary Larson's work, but the overall construction of this item is so poor.The box holding the calendar isn't held together with any kind of tape or adhesive, but the tab is simply folded into the box, which makes it very easy for the weighty object to slide out and be jostled around in transit. This is exactly what happened when I received the item, and must have been enough to rip through one of the lines of perforation along the top of the calendar.The plastic backer is made as thin and cheap as the kind of disposable plastic casings that hold action figures in place within their boxes (perhaps even thinner and cheaper). This is hardly sturdy enough to hold up the calendar, and due to the in-transit jostling, one of the corners had broken off and left some nice pointy shards for my special gift-receiving friend to enjoy.I tried to remove the backing from the calendar entirely, so I could place it on a much better separate stand and because even without the broken piece, the added backing makes the entire calendar look overly tacky and cheap. I found this was near impossible, because all the adhesive that could have been used to better secure the box from opening involuntarily was used in attaching the calendar to the backing.Other than that, the images are clearly printed, and takes up as much space as it can along the left side of each page. The paper is quite cheap and only just thicker than a newspaper sheet, but that's not too surprising for pages that are intended to be ripped and disposed.I would only return this item to get a new one if Andrews McMeel re-released this product with a much thicker stand that didn't protrude beyond the dimensions of the calendar itself, sold the item with a removeable stand, or no stand at all.I don't think this item is worth the price, especially when you can buy Gary Larson books for less, with larger prints of his work and less cheap packaging.

I’m a huge fan of The Far Side, so I’m ecstatic that there is a 2021 themed calendar. It’s a good size for my desk and has a comic for each day of the year, starting with Jan 1st 2021.

Since Gary retired, I have slowly found some other cartoons that are similar and hit that quirky funny bone like The Far Side, but there is nothing as good as the original. I am happy the daily calendar is back. Thank you.

This daily calendar is packed full of classic Far Side comics. Each month has a theme, for example January is Western themed and has an extra drawing “Get Off Your High Horse” which introduces it. I think my favorite month will be May “Hands Off My Bunsen Burner”. My favorite cartoon is “At the Crabbiness Research Institute”.I highly recommend this daily calendar. It is full of classic humor that everyone will need to recover from 2020. THANK YOU GARY LARSON!!!

The item is completely useable but did arrive damaged. The item is in its own box, but that box is no sturdier than greeting card stock. So, shipping it in a padded envelope did not work out. Heavier packages, boxes crushed it badly enough that the plastic base was broken off on one corner. This item should have been packed and sent out in a small box instead of a padded envelope.

It's been waaaaaay too long since we've been able to chuckle, laugh and hoot at Gary Larson's zany sense of humor. I used to get one of these every year until he retired. I just received mine and cannot tell a lie - yes, I peeked at a few of them even though it's not January yet. Laugh out loud classics, the best and the funniest.DON'T MISS THIS, THERE MIGHT NOT BE ANOTHER ONE!

If you are a fan of The Far Side, this page-a-day calendar is a (big DUH) definite buy!! If you have never heard of The Far Side (hurry now, and get out from under that rock!!!), you MUST buy this page-a-day calendar & buckle-in for your introduction to comic genius!! Gary Larson’s The Far Side is in one word: iconic!! His surrealistic & unconventional & at times somewhat perhaps morbid (but never horrific or dark) sense of humor brilliantly tackles every single topic & theme you could ever imagine– from feelings of impending doom, to the meaning of life, to literary & scientific & proverbial references, to environmental concerns, to regular ol’ every day human interactions & thoughts & occurrences, to anthropomorphic (cows are a favorite) & even extraterrestrial views of life & the world and worlds surrounding us– just to name a “few.” What an incredible mind Larson has!! What a creative genius he is!! What a gifted talent who can tackle the mundane & ordinary and make them extraordinarily big laughs!! and, at times, also make you stop and see the serious issues being addressed behind the humor. I own several of Larson’s The Far Side books, and every year I look for The Far Side in page-a-day calendar form... so glad Amazon has it!! You really ought to BUY THIS PAGE-A-DAY CALENDAR!!! Gary Larson no longer draws new cartoons so these are all the same old tatt. I love it.

Arrived in November so can’t wait to kiss 2020 good riddance ! At least can start 2021 with a daily smile ! Cheers Mr Larson !

This is so good - really is the gift that keeps on giving. Great for existing Gary Larson fans, even if you've seen these before it's a treat to see them again. If you're not yet a fan, get this, then become one. Buy it, it's funny.

Bought as a gift for a Gary Larson fan, it was really liked. Excellent quality calendar, comes with a stand and presented in a nice box.

Classic far side. If you're a fan of the weird and wonderful you should definitely give it a go. Unless you're scared of ducks of course.
