20 Celtic Fingerstyle Uke Tunes

For beginners, melodies only
I have Rob MacKillop's book of Spanish Baroque tunes, and I LOVE it. I've been playing fingerstyle guitar for a million years, and picked up the ukulele a few years ago, and many of the Spanish tunes are beautiful arrangements of solo tunes. The Celtic book is really for beginners, as there are no harmonies at all, just melodies. Of course there is nothing wrong with this, but it's frustrating to have to buy something only to return it, and I expected more. The Amazon listing could have more information that would help players understand what's inside without compromising the arrangements.

Fantastic Uke Book! (And you weren't ripped off, the CD is a Download Code)
I purchased the Kindle version for use on my iPad. For those of you who can't find a CD, have no fear. Check the inside, there should be a download code within the first few pages that you can use to download the tracks online. Mel Bay doesn't include physical CDs in their books anymore, but you could always burn yourself a CD once you've downloaded the tracks. My Kindle version had a code which I used to download the tunes, no problem.I usually like hardcopies of books, but I got this on the same day I bought my Ukulele because I couldn't wait to start playing! I've been playing guitar for over ten years, but only recently began playing the Uke. If I had known how ridiculously fun it is, I would've waited so long to start! This book is great because I find it interesting and challenging even though I have a lot of guitar experience under my belt. I have to work up to speed to get the songs to sound like the recordings, and I have to really focus on navigating a different fretboard than guitar. I love Celtic music and I'm so happy I can play it on a new, complementary sounding instrument!

Good selection
I like the tunes in the book, and it is definitely helping me learn my way around the fretboard. Finger picking has been kind of intimidating to me until now, but the book is helping me grow more confident with that skill. I am taking one star off, though, because many of the tunes have been transposed out of the keys in which you would expect to see the tunes in any other book of Celtic music (specifically, the keys of D and G), or hear them at a jam session. It would be frustrating if you wanted to join in, but only knew the tune in a key that was unfamiliar to the other musicians.

Great Celtic Campanella
Don't understand those who didn't get a CD as it came in the book with mine. These are fabulous campanella arrangements of Irish songs which will really help you understand the technique. The songs are great, a few require a bit more work to get right, and I don't play the fast ones with the same speed and clarity as Rob, but I'm working on it. Even at a slower pace they are very enjoyable to play and people seem to enjoy hearing them.

CD "NOT" Included.
The book says CD included, but all you get is the corner of the book saying, "CD included". If you don't know the Celtic songs you will have difficulty playing these songs.

Lovely arrangements
I love this! Not all of these are right to play in sessions (though it could be done with with a bit of capoing) but they are lovely arrangements fo playing as solo pieces. The ukulele can sound as beautiful as an Irish harp! Very accessible for players of all levels. People just past beginner stage would have no problems with this.

Good beginners music for the ukulele
Our folk are already advancing through the celtic music and enjoying the instruction as well and the sounds. They appreciate receiving the book and value the book of tunes with its fingering.

A Fun Collection of Celtic Classics
Had such fun with this book that I ordered another copy for a family member who also loves tinkering on the uke. As a novice uke/banjolele player I found the arrangements fairly easy to practice and the online code you receive to download the songs to hear how theyre played was super helpful. Looking forward to St.Patrick's day so I can bust out some of these jams at our family get together lol
