Gustaf's Premium Licorice Allsorts, 5 lbs

These were fresh, tasty and addictive. Harks back to my childhood when they were a BIG DEAL! Guess what, they’re still a delicious BIG DEAL!

I previously ordered a smaller bag of this brand and wrote a scathing review because of how hard and stale the pieces were. After writing that review, we discovered that the entire bag was not stale, only about 15% to 20% of the pieces were rock-hard, and they seemed to be mostly at the top of the bag. We were curious what we would get if we ordered again. This 5-pound bag was perfect.

First off, I ORDERED a 5 lb. bag of Gustafs PREMIUM Licorice ALLSORTS but what I got was an OFF -BRAND called King of Sweets!! I had ordered Gustafs before and LOVED the selection and flavors so I ordered again. I’m VERY DISAPPOINTED because even though these are tender and flavorful, the selection is terrible, and NOT what I ordered! There are wayyy too many of the large round coconut ones and the stacked black and white ones. I really like the pink and blue little round seeded ones and there are hardly ANY of them! Also, the black ones with the white filling. Neither one can be seen when you look into the large opening of the bag... all you see is coconut ones and triple stacks. Even looking in the front ‘window’ of the bag there isn’t any to be seen. For me, this was ALOT of money to spend on a bag of candy but I THOUGHT I was getting something really special and wanted to treat myself, but now I’m stuck with this bunch of candy that isn’t my favorite. Amazon, this is FALSE ADVERTISING.😡

Soft candy.

I was looking forward to the yellow layer tasting like lemon, but all the layers tasted the same or just had a hint of flavor. The licorice tastes good and is flexible, while the sugar layers are somewhat stale and bland. This is not gourmet candy but it’s okay for everyday snacking.

It’s amazing how expensive candy has become but this was some of the freshest, best quality I’ve found. Even better than the local giant grocery store.

These are my favorite candy and I was glad to find them in bulk. I received the 5 lb bag labeled King of Sweets, and this must be repacked from bulk as it is definitely authentic Gustafs Allsorts! The batch I got is soft and fresh, and I got a balanced variety of all the different pieces! (From April 2020)Update: (May 2020) I clicked "Buy It Again" and was sent an order from a different seller. What I received was NOT Gustafs Allsorts this time. I am a long time buyer of this brand and know the difference. Bag was labeled Gustafs but had totally different pieces, orange instead of yellow, no triple decker, some all white, weird aroma. Ingredients were also different.*Beware that multiple sellers use this same listing and share the same reviews. Some do not sell the authentic Gustafs Allsorts. I feel this is wrong because they should be selling what they have pictured and described here, not an imposter. As a customer, I would like to get the product that I want. The listing could read simply "Licorice Allsorts, colors and flavors may vary." At least then we will know we are taking a risk spending our money on this product.
