Ape Case Aluminum Hard Case With Foam, ACHC5600

Lets be honest, the lock is a joke. You can open it freely when you lock it, but you are unable to close the latch if the lock is in locked mode. Thankfully, they added places for you to add your own padlock. For my use, I didn't need to locks, so I am not bummed out very much by the bad lock. The reason is that the case looks sleek and streamlined. From a distance, you would think that this is a $150 case. I use mine to store paraphernalia, so it is relatively light and I haven't had any issues with the case. The foam comes in 2 layers which is nice. I ended up only need to use 1 layer of foam (because my items had some depth to them). As a consequence, I have a "back up" foam if I ever want to re-setup the layout. There is alot of room in these cases, though I advise that you always leave a width of 2 squares for foam because 1 square between objects makes the foam bend out in an ugly fashion. Also, one layer of foam makes it harder to man handle when you want to adjust the foam. Though, the edges are alright to leave no extra foam because they are no perforated so won't break as easily. All in all, definitely a valuable case if you don't plan on storing heavy stuff. (I added this last part because I read some of the reviews before I purchased this and they said that it was prone to break)

The product came in and fit the description perfectly and at a very decent size for my needs. I needed a TSA approved box that will favor the security needs for airline travel and this Aluminum Hard Case will get that job done. The reason for 4 stars is because of the key quality to lock the locking latches are very easy to bend and overtime of use, it appears to bend in time. Another factor to consider is the lock latch itself is not enough lock strength however, once lock, the latch has a hole where you can buy an optional TSA combination lock for added security which appears it was designed to be that way.. The key lock isn't good enough for my concerns since I'm using this case for Firearms and weaponry.One thing I loved was the pre-cut form for items you want to secure in with the shape of your device. Just simply press your device hard on the form so you can see the print and than push out the shape.... The result is you now created Foam space to fit your item in placement.Overall very great box with the exception of low quality lock keys and having to buy combination locks to have the locking method to optimize locking security.

I bought this for my astronomy accessories, mainly for the yellow foam which is a "bright" idea for night time use. I knew it would not be abused and hoped for a case that would withstand my careful handling. I was very pleasantly surprised at the medium sturdiness of the case. I had bought a larger Xit case which barely stands up to my handling and I plan to replace it with the extra large Ape case. It just feels solid when carried, unlike the other case which flexes every time it's lifted. Another reviewer gave very negative reviews and called us all liars. But he only reviewed the locks and he is correct. The locks are toys. Not good at all for security. You can check the reviews if you believe they are padded positively by looking for "Verified Purchase" next to the reviews. Basic rule here would be: carry this case around or carry it on board but don't expect it to stand up to baggage check. I don't think any of these aluminum cases can. You need the hard plastic (expensive) cases for that. And don't let your ape jump on it.

Got this case to have a convenient way to store my photo equipment during our international move to Germany. It fits the bill perfectly. As of now it holds the following: Canon Vixia Camcorder, Olympus PEN E-P3 body, Olympus OM-D E-M5 body, M.Zuiko 14-42 mm, M.Zuiko 40-150mm, M.Zuiko 45 mm f1.8 with Olympus lens hood attached, M.Zuiko 60 mm f2.8, and the small flash that came with the OM-D E-M5. There is still room for a bit more equipment, see my uploaded picture.The case itself is lightweight and lockable. Probably would not withstand any serious impact but for my purpose it works very well. Beats having to lug around and keep track of several camera bags! Recommend as a compact storage solution.

I made a mistake my first attempt by not carefully reading the dimensions of the various sizes, so I ordered the wrong size first, but it gave me an opportunity to see how easy it was to make a return. What great service! With my second order, (which I measured and re-measured before placing), I got the right size and I love it. I wish I could upload a picture. The yellow foam inside is comprised of small, about 1/2 inch squares, that can be pulled out and separated to make whatever sized insert areas you need. It also came with some section dividers. I fit my portable projector in the middle, with the sides separated into sections with no padding, creating little box areas for each of the cords I need. Everything fits perfectly. The shoulder strap helps when I have to go long distances but it can be taken off and placed inside when not needed. I've been carrying this thing around to presentation after presentation for a month now. It works perfectly and it looks very professional. I highly recommend it.

This case looks nice inside & out. The case includes 2 layers of pick & pluck foam, each layer is about 1 3/4" thick. & there is a glued in foam layer at the bottom of the case, as well as a glued in foam in the cover. It does come with the dividers & strap. And it has sets if feet on the bottom standing up,& on when it's laid down to open it. I'm using this as a range case. It has plenty of room for my Smith & Wesson 9mm, extra magazines, ammunition, and ear & eye protection. I could easily fit 2 weapons with accessories in the box, but I prefer to keep each weapon in it's own box. I'm definitely getting another one for My 22 Ruger,The item arrived on time :)but it was @ about 8:00pmI ordered the Jumbo ACHC5600, the ACHC5600 is actually Large per tag & the apecase website. The dimensions are listed correctly, it's just the name (Jumbo) that's incorrect and should be corrected on the amazon site.

Es buen producto por el precio que se paga por el. Solo lo ocupo para transportar mi equipo dentro de la ciudad y de manera personal ya que no cuenta con una seguridad confiable para dejarlo a terceras personas sin poner en riesgo la integridad del equipo que transporta, aunque cuenta con la posibilidad de poner candados externos aun así el material del que esta hecho se siente muy frágil. Pero como opción de transporte normal (no viajes, ni aeropuertos) es muy bueno y mejor que otros que venden por el mismo precio.

I must rate the case on price and quality for the money. I am very satisfied with the value. I used a razor knife to cut the foam, this way I have a better fit. Holds Canon Rebel plus four lenses, filters, charger and batteries with easy access to everything.I would not suggest putting it in checked baggage, but it is carry on size. For the $$ spent it is excellent value. (Looks good too)

This case pretty much gives everything that I was looking for in a hard body case for a new 17 inch laptop.It has all the foam options I need for laptop and power supply and some decent partition options to boot!In a perfect world it could be a bit more robust, dropping this from a substantial height would almost for sure ruin the case, but at least the laptop would survive!I would recommend buying one of these if you need a tidy and safe spot to store your camera OR laptop gear!
