Big Guy and Rusty (2nd edition)

This was super cool. I love anything monsters and this satisfied! Never heard of this duo but it was a fun non DC/Marvel thing. :)

My initial point of reference for Big Guy and Rusty was the cartoon. I had found out about the comic book much later, but could never get around to picking it up. The newer hardcover was coming out, and seemed to be in a more large format size, so I snatched it up. I was not disappointed. The book is a quick sit, easily read in one go. The thing that will keep you going back, or take the most time, is Darrow's artwork. Ultra-detailed, and insanely well done. The sense of scale is incredible. Being someone who really enjoys Kaiju movies, and a lot of the history with giant monster movies from Toho and such, I really appreciated the amount of care that went into the book. There's a lot of drawn in references to popular Japanese culture, which is a neat touch.Its hard not to recommend this version of Big Guy and Rusty.

Geoff Darrow is head and shoulders above many illustrators and comic book artists. His attention to detail and line work is just phenomenal. This is also probably one of his most kid friendly works. The robots and action are amazing and highly relevant. Some of the dialogue may be a bit heavy and melodramatic but I love the Astro Bot references. Overall delivered

I read this book for the first time 18 years ago, checked it out from the library. I was excited to see a hard back copy for sale! Great comic, wish they made more!!!! If you have never read Big Guy the art style reminds me a lot of the Manhattan Project series

This is an excellent counterbalance to teh sanitized versions of the show (which are great). The graphic novel really sets the tone and the artwork is phenomenal.

I got this out of nostalgia for the cartoon, but I found this book to be pretty dull. I love the art though.

Great story and art, and this edition is very nicely printed on top shelf paper.

Makes me feel like a kid reading!

As a major fan on the animated series growing up it was a blast to read and then reread through the two part story that started it all.Darrow's top notch art and Miller's inner monologues bring this Robot vs Monster epic to life to where you can almost hear the show's theme playing in your ears with every action packed page turn.

Everything worked out well and I'm happy with my order.
