Great product and service after disappointment
Ive tried a few different brands of biltong and made my own. I have to say that this wasn't my favorite. Believe me, i wanted to like it. The taste was sour and most of the bag was pulverized shreds. :( I did find that letting a bit airdry in a bowl made it a little more palatable, but honestly it'sjust sitting in my fridge still, where normally I'd have eaten the whole bag in a day or so. I will say that there was a decent amount for the price. The texture and cut were good on the whole pieces. Also, some of the bites left a weird coating and nasty taste on my tongue, like baking soda or something, but definitely an off taste.I had my own beef jerky store for several years, so I'm a connoisseur, but no snob.-----update 8/13/2019-------I contacted customer service via the email on the bag and got a response. They sent me a new bag and here is the email I sent them back. Very happy now.....The biltong showed up last Thursday! I'm sorry i kept forgetting to email you.It is delicious. It's night and day difference between the bag I got through Amazon originally. This bag was pristine and the taste is spot on. Every piece is a perfect slice, no shreds or fluff. Dark, rich brown color, not hay colored like the old bag. I really think that the other bag got very hot or something and out the taste off.Thank you so much. Now I know that if I am in the mood for biltong, Ayoba-yo is a good choice. Thanks for the customer service as well.....

Almost no flavor. Not worth the price.
I ordered the rosemary truffle biltong, i couldn’t taste any flavor other than the original meat flavor. It’s decent, and the texture is on the drier side which i like, but I definitely think a little more seasoning would make it better. I probably won’t be purchasing again since Aldi has the same size bag for $4 and the flavors are better.

Good Cut/Texture, Spicy Flavor Isn't the Best - Try Traditional!
Update: Great customer service! They provided a pack of traditional flavor after seeing my review (originally 3 stars, now 5). The traditional flavor is MUCH better and passed the taste-test from everyone in my house. I imagined traditional flavor would be like spicy - just milder. I was wrong, it's a very different flavor, more familiar to American jerky, but still very unique and delicious. Combined with the unique texture (biltong is new to me), it's hard not to eat this by the handful. Getting the right flavor completely changed my opinion. Try traditional first!Original Review: I appreciate the nutrition, great for snacking. The cut/texture is good - seems like thicker cuts of dried meat sliced wafer thin. I tried Spicy Biltong, which wasn't great. I normally share a little bit of jerky with my young son and even my wife has some occasionally. We all agreed that the flavor wasn't great. Maybe other flavors are better. Better flavor would have made all the difference, but at this price, I probably won't risk it.

Poor customer service, good Biltong.
The media could not be loaded. First, to be fair, the biltong is good. Not great, but good. Not as good as Woolies Biltong. It is not soft and does not have that classic Biltong taste you expect from traditional South African Biltong. Nonetheless, it is still quite tasty. I have ordered it more than 10 times.Taste and Quality : You can see from the Video and Photos how the quality compares with what I expect from South African biltong. The Biltong in the photo is from The Butcher Shop. (Anyone from SA will be familiar with this place). Outside of making your own Biltong, Butcher Shop Biltong is considered to be top grade, 10/10. Woolworths Biltong is 6/10. Ayoba-Yo Biltong is probably 4/10 on this Biltong scale. Not as good as Woolies, but still passable. (Keep in mind that true Biltong aficionados would never consider purchasing Biltong from Woolies). It is fully soaked through in Vinegar, so every part of every piece of biltong taste like the marinade. This is akin to a overly well done steak. With top quality Biltong, the marinade is only noticeable on the outside of the slab. The inside retains the taste of the meat. With Ayoba-Yo, you only get the taste of the marinade (vinegar, coriander, salt, pepper).Customer Service : Like with many Amazon sellers, as soon as a product is ordered, the buyer is pestered by the seller to write a review or contact the seller if they are not satisfied with the product. Most of the time I ignore these emails. However, this time I decided to let the seller, Ayoba-Yo, know that I was not satisfied with a recent purchase. I had I recently received a bag of Biltong that had been ripped open, and thus spoiled. I let them know about it. They promised to send a replacement bag. Then they contacted me and said "We are glad you received the replacement bag". I wrote back saying "I have not receive the bag yet." They said "Okay, give it a few more days, and by the way, we don't have any tracking information". I gave it a few more days, and still no replacement. How many emails should be sent back and forth before I receive my replacement?TLDR; Product quality good. Customer service poor. I am still looking for better Biltong options.
