Which side up for water filter in alpilare 550

I don't think there is an up or down. I just fitted the filter into my holder and put it into the humidifier. All of the sides looked the same.

The type of furnace is of no significance, If Skuttle is the name of your brand humidifier then I'd say no. This is an Aprilaire brand item, It fit my Aprilaire brand humidifier. Hope this helps you..try a google search for your brand and model number humidifier or contact your installer who put it in.
