This thing could be seen as modern art. It is beautifully machined and works perfectly. I almost hate to get it dirty.

I've purchased a few filter sockets in my time and this one is right near the top! While I've only used it once so far, it fit well and seems very study in its wall thickness and attachment to a 3/8 drive ratchet or extension.One word of caution or bit instruction though. The socket does fit a little loose to the plastic filter housing and causes the housing to become stuck/lodged in the socket. What I did to counter this was, leave the housing in the socket the whole time you are replacing the filter cartridge and the O rings. Oil the O rings up, install the new cartridge and tighten the housing back on the engine. You hear/feel a "click" where housing switches from being bound in the socket when going from "lefty loosy" to "righty tighty". Keep going until you get the housing seated to be engine, then when you're ready to remove the socket just give the ratchet/socket a little turn in the counter-direction. It'll pop right off!

Fits perfect for the annoying volvo filter housings that no other cup seems to fit properly. The one I usesd to use was thin and would slip around the volvo housing this one is thick and sturdy so doesn't slip. Works great.

First, it did work for my 2005 Volvo S60 2.5T. I like the thickness of the walls and the solid construction. My only gripe is that the fit should be about .5mm smaller in diameter. There is just enough slop that it binds on the filter housing when loosening it. This is because Volvo is famous for those filters being tough to get off. No matter how easy you put it on, 3,000 miles later it acts as if it were glued on. Part of the problem is that the cap should be replaced every 5 oil changes, yet no one does it.

I had taken my 2003 Volvo V70 for an oil change only to be told that the filter housing was impossible to get off after they worked on it for 15 minutes. They wanted me to say it was okay if they put a really long breaker bar on the already long breaker bar they had on it! I insisted that they please do nothing else to my car, they filled it with oil and left it as is, I ordered this wrench thinking that it was worth a try before I took it to the repair shop. I drove my car up on normal ramps in my driveway placed this wrench over the housing and with a simple 3/8" drive socket removed the housing. No breaker bar, no forcing, no ripping the housing in half. This tool is well worth the money - I have not seen one this deep before and I am so glad I got this as the other ones are much shallower and I believe would not have worked.I had called the dealer thinking I might break the housing, they had them in stock as they are a popular item they said. I am sure if ever shop used this wrench they would not have to be replaced as much! I just put the old one back on with no issues.The only thing you need to watch out for is this is a perfect fit over the housing - meaning it will take a little effort to remove the housing form the wrench after it actually comes off. However if you are changing your own oil I am sure you will find a way of getting it out. When you reinstall the housing you should only put the wrench about a quarter of the way on the housing or you will have to take it back off to release it from the wrench - trust me on this :)Overall this item was much heavier duty than I had imagined, it will last forever.

Perfect fit. Not sure why it is getting stuck for others. Once you break the filter housing loose, simply tighten it back a bit and wiggle the socket loose from the filter housing. You can then use your wrench with the socket or just your hands on the filter housing to loosen it the rest of the way. That is a pretty standard mechanic practice when loosening any nut, bolt, or threaded fitting to prevent having whatever you're removing stuck in your socket.Patience is key. If you get in a hurry, you'll make mistakes and have problems.This worked perfectly and appears well-made. Looking forward to years of use.
