Nice quality and adjustability
I have spent some time researchig the available products to replace an old grip strengthener that finally broke. While this one seemed a bit on the expensive side, the construct quality, adjustability and positive reviews won me over. The only negative I have found is that even on the max strength it does not appear to tax my grip as much as I would like, but that is not to say it does not go up to 88lbs, I just need to look into the next level. As other reviewers have said the size of grip is somewhat small, and using it in the normal configuration I do find that my small finger lacks a good purchase. I have to turn it around for that to work. They do have a brochure that details some advanced exercises that would be difficult to do with a grip strengthener that offered significantly more resistance, and will give a well rounded workout for finger, hand and grip strength. Plus I do have kids so this should work well for them as they can dial it down to their resistance level. I will probably be looking for another model to allow a step up in resistance as well, but until then I will just do more reps or slower reps.I do appreciate the ergonomic design, but I would recommend adding an inch or so to the handle length if that would not create a lever that would exceed the strain properties in the material used and cause breakage.I highly commend their customer service, they are interested in helping make their product work for you and that alone speaks volumes.

this is a great tool in supplement to traditional weights or pull ups
FEBRUARY 1, 2015 UPDATE:Contacted seller a few times and finally got a response. Was basically told to go through Amazon for refund. Not saying I was blown off, maybe this is Amazon policy, but that's what happened. Filed a return with Amazon and got my money returned before I even sent out the defect (yes they want the item back but it's free shipping)! I can't say I'm ecstatic about the seller's service, but Amazon's is great (duh). Anyways, item was great while it lasted but I ended up purchasing a Captains of Crush gripper for the remainder of my training.JANUARY 25, 2015 UPDATE:Well despite what I said in my original review, after using this tool for about one month, it finally broke on me. However, surprisingly, it was not any of the plastic components that snapped but a metal one! There's a small nut that is threaded on the screw that the spring attaches to. This is what allows for the adjustment of tension; you can just barely make it out in the product picture. Lo and behold when I was squeezing it tonight the nut broke right off leaving behind a particle trail of debris! I wish Amazon allowed uploading of pictures to existing reviews so that I could more clearly indicate what broke.I have been using this regularly (every other day at least) for about a month and had gotten up to around 70-75lbs of tension. I had this item 5-starred but now I'm going to revise to 3 pending customer service and see if they can offer a refund or replacement. I stick with my statement that when it worked it was great, but I suppose there's no telling how long it'll last.-----ORIGINAL REVIEW:Recently started trying to develop my forearms and grip strength. As a beginner to the regiment, this is a great tool in supplement to traditional weights or pull ups. You can change the resistance anywhere wfrom 22-88 lbs, but unless you're at the very beginning, end, or middle of the adjustment scale, it can be a bit hard to tell how much resistance you actually set it to (if you care about the specific numbers). I can currently do about 2/3 (?) of the resistance so something around 60 lbs. Some reviews indicate poor quality. The entire thing is pretty much plastic with only a few metal components such as the spring and some screws. It squeaks a bit when I squeeze, but the sound seems to come from the spring's tension and not from the plastic frame. I'm not too worried about it breaking apart on me.I've been using it for about 2 weeks now on an almost daily basis. Just a few sets a day while watching tv will give you quite the burn. I've already noticed a strength increase although no noticeable mass gain on arms yet.

I expected it to be just a good as it is
The hand strengthener is just what I'd hoped for! I expected it to be just a good as it is, but I am still surprised at how close it is to what I had imagined it would be. Not many products do that! Thanks! So far, so good with my first couple of uses. I really like how easy it is to adjust the tensioner. I gave it to my grandmother to try out first, she got a kick out of it, plus a good arm workout! I really bought it for me, as I am getting back into sports after a long break, but I did hope that it would be easily adaptable to her strength so that she could keep her hands busy when she isn't doing much physically through the day. I am trying to get her into a daily fitness routine; this machine is helping.I remember the classic style being only as fun as it was challenging, and hitting it routinely made it a cinch to flex with ease but too easy too soon. This machine leaves me with plenty of room for growth, and even allows for creating a pyramid routine to boost strength, stamina and toning. I love how compact it is. It sure beats having to lug around a paperweight, like the originals are.I'm really very happy with my purchase, as its one of the very few that I will get much more value out of than the cost of investment.*** Update ***After using it for more than a week now, I notice that it doesn't hold true to its set tension like when I first used it, and it now makes a creaking noise just about every time I squeeze it. Maybe it needs some WD40 to help with the noise but as fast as the tension goes, I now have to turn all the way up to its tightest /most difficult setting to get any real workout because anything less and it just squeezes too easily.I know this is not true for all of these hand tools because I have one in black but its black not red, from P90X not Red Fox sports, its tensioner goes from 20lbs to 90lbs not 22lbs to 88lbs, and I bought that one from Marshall's for $9.99 as opposed $25+, and the one from Marshall's (the P90X version) looks exactly the same but works much better, without the noise or the loss in tension, and its less than half the price of this Red Fox model, but the Red Fox model comes with some videos to teach you how to get the most out of it - not that I have watched any of them yet, as its pretty simple to use it without any instructions.I will be returning this product to Red Fox Sports. Its good but not as good as a less expensive model. Maybe I got a lemon from the production line!
