Confessions of a Stripper: Tales from the VIP Room Paperback – April 1, 2004

I purchased this book because I am absolutely obsessed with reading about the perspectives of women in the sex industry (mostly the exotic dance industry). This book is narrated from the perspective of a topless dancer who initially falls into the industry without really meaning to. She discusses all the varieties of freaks that came into the clubs in which she worked. And while I do not doubt for a second that there are some creepers with 'interesting' (we'll leave it at that) requests, I highly doubt the truth behind some of these stories. Am I supposed to believe that one woman encountered a secret spy, a man who wanted to dress up as a baby and be "changed," a man who wanted to lick jam from between her toes, etc. etc.? Statistically speaking I'm not sure all of this happened to one dancer. I would've liked this book more if it had been fashioned more like "The Help"--as a collection of stories from several women in the industry. That way it would have been far more believable.An entertaining read, no doubt. Worth the money? Not sure. You may be better off checking it out from the library.

It was fun, but if you're looking for the erotic, this isn't it. It's mostly her tale of getting into the business and then a long collection of little vignettes about various customers over the years. It was interesting at first, but as the number of customer tales kept piling on, it started to get a little boring.

It was a quick read; interesting to delve into the psyche of a long time stripper. Well written, but ultimately, it's about what one would expect

This mostly sounds like the real thing. From my years of being a customer at numerous strip clubs in this country and Canada, I see the truth in her tales. So if you want a real life view that is honest and informative this book will enlighten you.

The woman who wrote this is one of those who thinks she's "seen it all" but in fact she's seen basically nothing if you can believe anything she wrote here. She looks down her snooty nose at other strippers and does absolutely nothing to bring you into the REAL world of strip clubs. I've been in them and owned two over the years. She makes out like she was the Virgin Mary of the stripper world -- and her stories are tame, boring and frankly, a lot of BS.There is a lot of hot and tawdry stuff that goes on in a strip club. She does nothing to shed any light on any of it.

Book was a total waste of time and money, 7 years as a dancer??? Please !!! she had No idea what she was doing the whole time, should have never started. Wasn’t cut out for the business to begin with. Baby Dancers... don’t listen to her, it takes guts, which she never had apparently!!! I was a dancer for 20 years, best time of my life!!!

It was very entertaining and enlightening. funny at times but definitely gave me a great respect for strippers now. a good read

A truly fantastic job on this book. The stories were outstanding and what made it all the enjoyable was the fact Lacey was putting the reader into the VIP Room with her. Very well written book. I would definitely recommend this book to all of my friends.

Came at the time stated, good read!
