The magnet on a flat pull is very strong, don't listen to the people who say they are weak while trying to pick up the hook or eyelets it comes with. The hook is not ferrous, and the metal the eyelets are made from is barely ferrous. Magnets cannot pick up every type of metal out there. I hooked it to my coffee table leg, and it sticks to that very well, stuck it to my front door for a straight pull from the center of the magnet and heard my door frame creak before it let go. This isn't going to pull out street signs and such like some of the guys do on videos online, but it is a great beginner kit, and that's what I was looking for. The hook is made out of some sort of light metal, not sure if it is an aluminum alloy, or what it is. It might be stronger than I think, but I feel like if you got anything of serious weight on it, it would probably bend or the ring welded on the end might come off, but I could be wrong. I would bet it will handle anything the magnet will though. The rope is typical paracord you can get anywhere but feels sturdy enough. The gloves are like a light gardening glove with rubberized palm and fingers. The gloves won't save you from sharp objects, but will help, and will help pulling anything rusty, just watch for sharp edges. The case feels very sturdy, it has a channel for a rubber seal, but mine didn't come with one, not sure if it was supposed to or not. The "collapsible bucket" is essentially just a canvas bag, it will handle anything smaller and of any value you want to bring home, but I would get a plastic bucket for the junk items you pull to get rid of. Good buy for the money, I bought magnetic coat hooks for the sides of my tool box that cost more than this set, and have similar strength magnets in them, maybe a little weaker. Great beginner set, and a good way to get outside doing something off the couch and away from electronics, plus you can clean up some of the junk in your water ways in your area while having fun at it!

I got my magnet fishing kit last month and this week finally had time to take it out for a spin. It came with several accessories including a grappling hook which I found to be super helpful. A few hours into my "fishing" I launched the magnet into the water and the rope slipped into the water too. I thought about jumping in after it but Florida's brackish water is dirty and often had gators so I had to walk away. Fortunately when I contacted the company and explained my situation (with pictures) they were very understanding and promised to send another kit.This is really going above and beyond. I truly appreciate the help they gave me as well as their encouragement to keep trying. This is a solid kit and good seller. Give them, and the hobby itself, a try!

1st I have to say that I had to purchase 2 of these, as I lost my first one. While magnet fishing I attached to something that was far too heavy for me to pull up on my own. Tried to 'pully' it and even had help from two others, no go. These magnets are very powerful! Be careful where you're fishing, and make sure you don't cast out too far where you can't get to it. Only thing I would say is that the gloves don't do much to keep your hands truly dry. But since this is about the magnet I still gave it 5 stars because the gloves can be replaced.2nd is that ALL the negative reviews about the strength/power seem to come from people that have no idea how to test magnets. Either they're using the wrong/non magnetic items (silver, gold) or they simply don't get it. I've latched onto a cart and pulled that up. Found signs buried in the mud and with no issues (from the magnet) it never failed to bring it up.

It was all it was supposed to be got it and went out right away filled half a bucket of stuff super strong and easy to use..

I don't know how it's 1200 lb pull with as small as the magnet is the kit and case is nice just not as big as I figured it would be

I haven't used it yet but it came with a really good hard plastic case and all items were as described

Be careful what you catch on 1200 lbs is tough to pull loose great magnet already had to go in lake in Iowa get loose
