Very good panel, nice colours, continuously running noisy fan
Pros:- The colours are really nice, including black and grays. I haven't tested it with the calibration tool, as I don't need real colour accuracy.- No bleeding, no colour uniformity issues, no edge light problems. It's amazing.- The brightness is exceptional.- A lot of configuration options for HDMI. Most options are not available for DisplayPort, see the cons below.- All in all, the panel itself is great.Cons:- There is a halo around the mouse if dynamic dimming is turned on, and it draws a trail, even in fast mode. It's larger and disappears slower in the other 2 modes. The gradual mode is a shame.- The HDR is not really convincing. The colours are not so great. They are really nice, but not exceptional. I played some movies on this and on the old screen, and to be honest, the old one looked a little bit better.- No DisplayPort 1.4. Most graphics cards have 1 HDMI and multiple DisplayPorts. If you want to use 2 monitors, you have to use DP for one of them, and you can't configure it properly.- OSD is not bad, but the physical buttons are.- I experienced a chromatic distortion. There are red and magenta outlines around the edges of graphical elements if I don't look through the middle of the lenses. So, I have to turn my head, which is not ideal all day long. It's likely caused by my glasses' coating, but I don't have the same issue with the old IPS screens.- The item was sold as new. But it was obviously opened and used before. I suspect someone had the same problem with the noise...Deal-breaker issues:- The power inlet is loose. Of course, it's not used often, but it can cause major issues.- The fan's noise is terrible. It turns on after 1-2 hours and continuously runs, even if the monitor is in sleep mode. I turned off HDR, motion sync, adaptive, sync, lowered the brightness, but it continues running.I'm hesitating, but I'm afraid I'll have to send it back and request a refund.I don't want to hear this noise 8 hours a day in the next few years. And I'm sure it will be worse.UPDATE after 2 days:I'm not hesitating. The screen got tinted green 6 times in 2 days. It happened randomly. Usually, I could 'fix' it by selecting another preset in the monitor's menu, but the monitor completely stopped working 2 times. Also, the fans (there are 2!) seem to be totally pointless. They start after about an hour. If I turn the monitor off for a few seconds, and then turn it on, they start again in an hour. So, it seems that there's no proper temperature measurement and fan control, the 'cooling logic' is hard-coded.

A huge disappointment
I decided it was time to get a decent professional monitor for use with my PC and Mac and this one - the PA32UCX-PK 4K - seemed to tick all the boxes. It was expensive - more than £2K - but the specs sounded excellent and as I am doing more HDR video content these days it seemed like a good investment. Unfortunately it's been nothing but a disappointment. Poorly designed and with serious gotchas.First up, the cable access is ridiculous fiddly. All connections are made from the bottom of the monitor, tucked away inside a difficult to access deep-set panel. And - as it's orientated vertically - it's quite easy to knock cables loose as they are only held in by the socket's own retention capability - with gravity pulling on them constantly.Next - the screen quality itself. The display is bright and sharp - however the micro-array of localised dimming zones are horribly noticeable - and create an ugly chunky grid of glow that follow (slowly) any bright object on a darker background - EG your mouse cursor against a dark grey background. This means I do not feel comfortable using this monitor for serious colour works as these localised glowing chunks break up flat colours and lead to an unnatural reproduction.Lastly - and sadly most seriously - the built-in stand is quite flimsy. This is a HEAVY monitor and unfortunately, the stand and base stupplied are probably not strong or heavy enough to keep it stable. Literally just walking nearby the desk it's on makes it wobble alarming. And then today, I knocked the edge of my desk with my chair arm and the whole unit fell face down - and now the display is smashed and unusable. A very costly error, but one that could have been avoided with a better stand design. Knowing what I know now, I would high recommend clamping or fixing this unit permanently to a table. Or use a VESA adapter and a better, stronger mount. Now I need to find a replacement. I certainly won't be considering this one again.
