Smelly and messy
I am always on the lookout for better litter, and this one attracted me with its description of odor control, natural, great clumping characteristics. While I love the smell of a lumber yard, this aroma is really strong - I can smell it all over the house. It smells sort of like varnish. It is very powdery, so it travels, including stuck to my cat's feet. His urine is the "glue" that keeps the litter on his paws, so that is gross as he carries it into every nook and cranny he visits. I remain on the lookout still.

High performing environmentally friendly litter
I have been buying the litter directly from the company through their website but glad to see it's now on Amazon. First off, this litter performs extremely well in the two most important attributes a litter should have: odor control and clumping. The litter is made from reclaimed pine sawdust, which has a pleasant and mild pine scent, that does wonders for absorbing (and not just masking) the typical litter box smells. After I started using Catalyst I no longer walk into my house and cringe from those unpleasant litter box "aromas". The product is lightweight and easy to sift while also providing excellent clumping ability, making it easy to clean and dispose. I suppose you could even use it as fertilizer if you wanted to. With some other natural cat litters I've found them to be deficient in either odor control or clumping but Catalyst performs well on both attributes and has a pretty long useful life (one bag lasts about a month for one cat). It has minimal tracking and almost no dust, plus my cat accepted it right away. The other aspect of this product that appeals to me is that Catalyst takes a waste product, in this case sawdust resulting from sawmill operations, and reconstitutes it into a useful consumer good. I moved away from clay based litters a long time ago after learning of their detrimental environmental impact. Clay litter (made from sodium bentonite) has to be strip mined, resulting in unnecessary environmental degradation. For a product so widely used (there are millions of cats in the US) more people should be aware of where their litter comes from and how it impacts the environment. All in all, I couldn't be happier with this product and hope more people try it as it becomes more widely available.

STICKS TO YOUR CAT!
I’m giving it 2 stars. One because it clumps decently, and one because the scent is great. My living room smells like a forest. BUT, my cats looked like they were wearing socks after trying the new box with this litter in it. They proceeded to track it EVERYWHERE. This is my black cat’s paws. I ended up pulling the box up. I’m not comfortable with them grooming that off and ingesting it.

Amazing. Best litter ever!
This stuff is amazing! I’ve never had such an easy kitty litter to deal with. I’ve used clumping litter forever but I hate how often I have to change it because the pee clumps always break apart in the box. I end up putting more fresh litter in the box all the time to cover the now broken apart dirty litter or changing the whole box. Our two cats use it a LOT too lol so I was buying new litter every two weeks at least! I am SO glad I found this. Yes, it is a decent amount pricier than your average run of the day litter. But trust me, in the long run, you will actually save money from all the litter you end up having to throw away from it breaking apart and stinking. Oh! And even better, the way our house is, the only place we can put their litter pan, is in the kitchen, otherwise the smell has followed us everywhere we sit/relax or do our daily activities.... since this litter, haven’t had a SINGLE smell! That is including while the cats are in the litter pan, and we had tried everything: cover litter box with door deodyzing litters, febreeze, and filters. This is literally a god send AND I just found out it’s better for the environment too.Just try it once, and you will never have to deal with smell again ;)

Not Worth The Cost
I have a bit of a mixed review. First, this product took almost 3 weeks to get to me, which I feel is an unacceptable amount of time to wait for an online order. Second, although it smells great and definitely works for removing the smell of a cat box; it gets used far too quickly and the wood smell dissipates fairly quickly. I used a half of a bag in the first litter box without other litter mixed in and only allowed my smaller male cat to use it. It was used up by day 3. The remainder of the bag, I mixed in with a multi cat scoopable litter and the smell of the wood stayed approximately a week and worked better. I would order it again, but since I have multiple cats, I won’t. I feel it’s a good supplement to be mixed with your regular litter, but not as a stand alone; especially with the price and size of product you are getting.

Soft litter, cats like it
Not going to lie, I got sucked in by the funny marketing on this litter. I like the sticker they provided with my purchase. I am fairly happy with this litter. The cats definitely have a preference for it for urinating on it. I put this litter in their favorite box, and still have World's Best (red bag) in the second favorite. They are using the box with Catalyst almost exclusively to urinate, and the box with World's Best to defecate, which is a change from what their previous behavior. I do not notice excessive odor, so does a good job there. The litter is soft, and tracks a lot less than other soft wood litters I have tried (OkoCat, Tidy Cat Nature), but still tracks and the cats are visibly dusty after using it. I personally don't like the way it scoops--it's just a bit more difficult because of the consistency, but about the same as any soft litter. I will likely still purchase this in the future mainly based on how much the cats like it. I hope I am contributing less evil to the environment by using wood and corn/wheat/walnut/etc based litters over clay.

Controls odors well
I'm in a hotel room with two cats; a long story, but it's necessary. The litter absorbs odors as readily as it absorbs urine, it clumps well, and it causes rapid desiccation of their poop so that clean up is easy. When I inevitably step on scattered litter particles because my little boy is dedicated to digging to the bottom of his box, sweep up is painless.
