Helps best when my skin is cracked.
Particularly during the winter months, my skin gets so dry that it cracks and bleeds. It doesn't help that I'm often cleaning and washing my hands (pandemic didn't help this issue). This lotion has become my sort of last line of defense when my other lotions start to fail on me. Now I'll warn you, this does sting when it comes into contact with any sort of cracked skin. But it's not unbearable, and afterwords, my skin feels softer and there's a sort of barrier that lasts a little while even while I clean. I love putting it on at night to try and lock in what moisture I can. I just wish it wasn't so pricey at $32.

Sheer Moisture Protection
I like the concept of a barrier lotion. I've been over washing my hands since the start of the pandemic and it has lost the ability to retain moisture. On top of that, the use of hand sanitizer weakens and dries out the skin even further. I've been using this barrier lotion daily for almost 2 weeks. It is fragrance free so that right there is a good start. The consistency has a silky hand feel, lightweight, and sheer. It absorbs quickly, within a minute if you don't overly apply. I find that half a pump is enough for both hands. There is no greasy after feel and the light moisture it provides doesn't last very long. The barrier it creates on the skin is invisible. It's supposed to help protect the skin against irritants for hours even after frequent hand washes. So far I have not seen my current skin conditions worsen. On top of that, it claims to help draw moisture deep into the skin layers but I have not seen improvement on that aspect, my hands are still dry and cracked. For the purpose of protecting my hands against irritants like hand sanitizers and cleaning chemicals, I will continue to use this. My only concern is, it seems as though this barrier lotion is resistant to other creams when layering on top of it. Since my hands continue to lose moisture even after using this lotion, I HAVE TO use additional creams to moisturize with. Seems like the invisible layer really is shielding it from penetrating my skin as I notice I have to reapply those cream more than I normally do throughout the day.

Psoriasis suffer with sensitive skin
I had really high hopes for this lotion. I've generally used Aquaphor, but it is extremely thick and greasy and doesn't fully absorb so I only use it when I'm staying home. It works great, but I was looking for something to sooth my skin that wouldn't leave me greasy.I tried out the Dermal Therapy. Very smooth and silky. However after about half a minute I got severe burning and had to run to the shower to wash the area I used the lotion on. It did not play well where there is broken skin. I have a tiny scrape on the back of my hand, and it burned in that area as well. On unbroken skin it was fine for me, but my appendages that need the lotion all have broken skin somewhere (we have several cats) so I'll have to be careful using it. You can see pictures of my psoriasis before and after. The stuff does work well, just not worth the pain for me.Unknown whether anyone else will have this issue, or it's just my sensitivities.

Good for Intertrigo
My 10 YO has had bouts of intertrigo (skin irritation in the skin folds) for years. We have tried rounds of cortisone, steroids, antibiotics, and antifungals. Last year, I chatted up the pharmacist at my local drug store and he suggested using barrier sprays, creams, or lotions to prevent intertrigo once it is healed. I had never heard of barrier products, but they have helped prevent intertrigo in my 10YO for months. You have to use them every day because once you skip a day or two, the intertrigo will come back--although not as bad as before. This lotion is an average barrier lotion. Not as thick as some other lotions, but it has kept intertrigo at bay. There is no strong scent, but my 10YO said there is a mild tingling in sensitive spots, which goes away after a while. I have hand eczema, and this works well on my hands. The best products for intertrigo prevention IMO are barrier products, Vasoline, and calmoseptine. I will continue to use this lotion for intertrigo prevention and will update this review if needed.Hope you found this helpful!

This stuff is ok it is basically Urea and Dimethicone in a bottle
This stuff is pricey. It is basically urea and dimethicone in a bottle. The urea is great because it removes dead skin cells and moisturizes the skin. It is the key ingredient in my favorite dry hand cream by Shiseido. However, this product also has tons of dimethicone. Dimethicone is sort of a filler it goes in to crevices and cracks and works like frosting on a cake. Covering all the imperfections. (It is also used in a lot of makeup.) However, it has a slimy smooth feel and can clog up pores on your face if used too much. I like many things about this lotion. Especially that it is fragrance free. But I don't like all the dimethicone which also washes off very easily. It just seems to temporarily keep my skin smooth but does not penetrate like the urea. I don't like the smooth film it creates on the surface of my skin.

Moisturizes
There is a myth about curing jellyfish stings using a form of urea. However, the myth is not true in reality. It does not help. However, WebMD has comments that are relevant. "This medication [urea cream] is used as a moisturizer to treat or prevent dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin and minor skin irritations (e.g., diaper rash, skin burns from radiation therapy). Emollients are substances that soften and moisturize the skin and decrease itching and flaking. Some products (e.g., zinc oxide, white petrolatum) are used mostly to protect the skin against irritation (e.g., from wetness). The Dermal Therapy Barrier Protection Lotion is a white fluid that is provided in a pump bottle. It becomes transparent when it is spread on. It does provide moisturization for dry skin. However, it leaves a residue that I am not thrilled about.
