Yes it's fragile yes it's made of glass and back in the old days that was not a reason to not give it as a gift nowadays it seems or so safety conscious but with a little bit of explanation any child can enjoy this and boiler and start their journey in the love of science

I purchased this as a replacement for one I bought at a gift shop for my son. It was exactly the same thing (and less expensive). It is made purely of glass, so they do break easily. The liquid can be "boiled" up and down by a child's hand. It is really cool to watch. I recommend putting it up when not in use, as they are quite fragile if knocked off a table. :)

Great conversation piece. These are made from very thin glass so they are super fragile. The first one I ordered arrived broken which was promptly replaced. Recommend supervision of young children.
