Absolutely great value for home studios
I bought the Mackie CR5BT CR Series Channel Studio Monitors, which I use for mixing and mastering sound using SONAR Cakewalk software in my home studio.First, let me say that all-around construction seems to be very hefty and of excellent quality. No cheapie plastic cabinets here, but instead they're constructed of solid MDF, then wrapped. I guess you can't call it true wood, but even so fiberboard is far superior to plastic regarding speaker cabinet sound. My preference is the larger woofer for studio use, 3" and 4" just seem too small for the purpose. While an absolutely "flat" response is impossible for any monitor, I was quite surprised that these seem to be on-par with far more expensive monitors I've used in the past. While mixing, I didn't notice any coloring of sound that concerned me. If anything, they may be a little hot on the low-end, but I'm sure that's due to the fact that they're rear-ported. Moving them further away from the wall and using the provided isolation pads on my DAW table seemed to clear that up almost completely.Bluetooth connectivity originally didn't interest me, but it proves to come in really handy when someone stops by with a demo on their phone or tablet. It's nice that you don't need to hassle with cables for on-the-spot listening in those situations. As a side note, I also picked up a UGREEN 3.5mm to 1/4" TS splitter to go along with these monitors. There really shouldn't be much difference between RCA and TS connectors, but I prefer the latter because they're usually much better shielded, reducing line noise. That's important when working with studio equipment in general. It's a very nice cable for the price:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZKM3SHK/Bottom line, you can't go wrong with the value these monitors provide. I'm extremely pleased with the purchase.* Note: I strive to write concise reviews with honest opinions to assist you as a potential buyer, and receive no monetary compensation for doing so. Pretty good so far
Sounds better and louder than i expected for the money spent. By quite a bit. They are loud, even at max volume i didn’t notice any audible distortion or flub and the actual sound quality isnt that bad. Id def buy again

Horrible reverb after 2 years of use from right Speaker
My original review written shortly after purchasing these speakers (read below) was accurate, having used a lot of cheap multimedia/gaming speakers for years. Initially, as my old review read (and thanks to Amazon for reminding me), they worked great. Loved the Bluetooth option; I will miss it.However, after 2-years of regular, 6-days per week, 8-hours per day use, I started experiencing a terrible reverb coming from the right speaker. At lower volumes, they sound really good. I also liked that they weren't too big - the cabinet. They fit my stands perfectly.I too contacted Mackie, but they were out of warranty, so there wasn't anything they would/could do. That's a shame. I went out and bought two Yamaha HS7 studio monitors and after listening to these, using the PreSonus Studio 26C interface (bypasses the audio card on my board), these Mackie CR4BT speakers seem like toys. All I am saying is buyer beware. Even if you want them for game play, at higher volumes and +bass ranges, you may experience the same issues as I did. Now, I did not experience the same power issues as others - not even close. But, as a editor who also records voice overs, I really should have upgraded to pro monitors years ago.Good luck with your purchase!ORIGINAL REVIEW: It's been a very long time since I worked with Mackie reference monitors, having used them almost exclusively in the late-90s through the new millennium while working at a recording studio. So, after a disastrous go with a set of Logitech Z337 computer speakers, I decided to go with a different brand. During research, I came across the Mackie CR4BT studio monitors with Bluetooth and dang! Now those are speakers! Easy to setup and the 4" size are not too big for a desk. I'm an editor, so I have an 8-foot desk with room to spare, but even on a regular sized desk, they'd fit (maybe). For those who have seen pics of these speakers, don't let the green or blue circles around the tweeter and mid-range fool you. They do not light up, but the green is a nice demarcation separating what would otherwise be black on black. The volume button on the front and the Bluetooth logo (if you get the Bluetooth model) do light up green though, in case you're wondering. To test the speakers, I looked up a few good songs with decent balance, space, attack and decay, rhythm, timing, mid-range quality and treble quality, dynamic range, bass control, detail, stereo focus, etc., and not surprising, these Mackie CR4BT's did a great job! In some cases, I was very delighted. As for video, at 44,100 Hz and higher, they too did a great job whether connected to my Mac or PC workstations. Overall, I believe, as far as sound quality is concerned, you'd be very pleased. The size - meh! I can see how someone might not like the larger, bookshelf style speakers, used to slim, multimedia speakers, BUT, give them a try. You can always place them on a shelf over your workstation.Right now, as I type this, the glorious sounds of Alice Coltrane are flowing through these Mackies... wow baby, wow!
