Great alternative to a traditional triangular scale, as sometimes I find it more convenient to have a flat tool when doing preliminary drawings.Only downside is that - at least with the one I got - the holes for circle drawing had burrs remaining on one side that noticeably could catch the drawing surface.

I bought this as a gift for an architect. I love the idea of the design and the flat scale makes it easy to take with you.

Next to the regular plastic scale I usually use this is pretty clearly not calibrated right, all the measurements run long. Also lots of burrs on the holes for drawing circles so if you used it for that it would mark up the paper it's on. Keeping it because it was $2 and it works well enough as a straightedge for cutting with a craft knife.Update after having it in my desk for a couple weeks: at least on 11x17 paper which I've been using for a class the calibration issue hasn't been too much of a problem, still not as good as a plastic 3 sided scale but not the worst thing ever. Sometimes it's nice to have it as a backup.

This item has to be ordered in at least 2 sizes larger for comfortable fit.
