Take lots of time to read this and look at the pictures. During a Droughtlander.
I enjoy reading this a bit at a time and looking at the photos. Hearing the background if what went into preparing for the series was interesting, this is not a Diane Gabaldon book which means it won’t take years to read. I would suggest taking your time, however. The. Re-reading again.

A Sumptuous Feast for Eyes and Heart!
This book is a sumptuous feast for Outlander fans. Tara Bennett has lovingly created a tribute to the filmmakers, actors, and entire crew of this incredible series. Each spread has photos from the filming and sets, fascinating stories, personal comments from producers, writers, directors, cast and crew, and insights into bringing Diana Gabaldon's book series to the screen. And there is so much more—Diana Gabaldon's IntroductionOrigins, In the Writers Room, The Journey from Book to ScreenA Chapter for every episode in Season One and Two!Production Design and Set DecorationTheme Song and TitlesSpotlights on 17 major actors and their charactersCostumes Season One and Two, Stunts and ArmoryAs soon as the book arrived i read the first two sections before even looking through the rest of the book, it just draws you in. As a musician, i found Bear McCreary's description of the music scoring especially fascinating, the many subtleties of which i missed and appreciate so much more now. He shares how the theme song was chosen, how the lyrics were eventually added and sung, adapted for Claire as "the lass that is gone."The photographs throughout are well chosen to avoid explicit scenes, so you can display this gorgeous hardbound book without concern for who will see it.The Making of Outlander is a rich tribute to this awesome film series with over 200 pages of great storytelling and images of the captivating story of Jaime and Claire, the worlds they share and try to change for the better. I will be reading it and rereading it!

Very informative
As a big fan of the show I was interested in reading Behind the scenes book. I never really thought about what goes into making any kind of movie or TV show. So many people have so much work, wow. This book brings to light all of their people it takes to make movie magic happen.

Key to Appreciating the Series
Loved the behind the scene look of what a gigantic effort this team went to make the show so authentic. The pictures are wonderful. The actors themselves give their understanding of the characters and how scenes evolved. I enjoyed the shows even more knowing all the details.

A book about everything (and nothing) you know about Outlander
I'm trying to give this book five stars, b u t it's only showing one!! I hope that will be corrected.I found this book to be filled with wonderful memories of first reading Diana's books. This author (Tara Bennett), brought me behind the scene where I've always longed to be! Whether I am watching a great comedy, or seeing the perfect ice skating performance, I've always thought " How did all this come to be?"Tara Bennett took me there. With Diana Gaboldon's writhing, she brings the story to you. You feel a part of her reading it to you. With Tara's writhing, she takes you behind the scene to where it all comes together. And she explains what the writers of the show where thinking when they changed ideas from the book. Knowing how and why they decided to do this really helped me with watching those changes.I would encourage any person who enjoyed reading (and rereading!!!) the Outlander series, place this book at the top of your list read! Especially if you had any doubts while watching the series. You will want to watch it all over from the very beginning!!Happy Reading!!

A Great Behind-the-Scenes Look Into Outlander
While impatiently waiting for Season Three to start, I decided to rewatch the first two seasons of Outlander. Having seen them all before, it was delightful to watch each episode with a different eye. This time around, rather than paying attention to the story line, I felt that I could focus more on the scenery, costumes, music, and minor characters, all things that greatly enhance the viewing experience. Having paid better attention to these things, I decided that I would like to know more about what it took to make this incredibly beautiful show. That's when I discovered this book, The Making of Outlander. It is the perfect way to further extend the viewing experience because it gives the backstory to how the television series came to be and details about the making of each episode. I have enjoyed reading the commentaries from all the key players and seeing many pictures from each episode, including some candid, behind the scenes photos of the actors. This book has helped fill the void until the new season begins and given me more of an understanding of what it takes to create this beloved show.

Even more interesting than expected.
This book exceeded my expectations. Obviously, the 'stills' photographs make it great visually, but it was wonderful reading how the writers, producers, actors, costume team, and various others tackled the making of such a great show. I learned a lot about how shows are made, and have a greater appreciation of the magnitude of it all. I definitely plan on getting the next book (re: seasons 3 &4).

Beautiful book
I love this book. Beautiful pictures and a very comprehensive overview of the first two seasons. Shame there was no 'Spotlight' chapters on Steven Cree or Stephen Walters though. I am also taking one star off because of the few mistakes I spotted. Such as one of the info boxes with a quote by Caitriona Balfe being in the wrong chapter and a few other things as well which I won't bore by mentioning. I'm sure other readers didn't even notice. It is only because I am a bit obsessed and have a touch of OCD. Lol!

Excellent book
Xmas gift for my Mum. She has read this about three times and says there is loads of information about how the series was produced. Lovely paper, good printing. Could only have been improved if Sam Heughan had delivered it himself.

Bonus with Kindle version.
Although the Kindle version has its drawbacks compared to the page layout of the book the bonus is that a double tap on any picture will make it pop out to an a larger version which makes them look great on a large screen tablet … reviewed on my 12 inch 3rd gen iPad pro.

Go on, you know you want to.
If you love the TV series, as I do, then you will love this book. Yes, I agree with some other reviews that more space could have been devoted to the costume/set designs etc. but there is a lot to cover with such a great show and this book does it well. A bit pricey, perhaps, but it will be a book I shall pick up again again so worth the cost. Go on, you know you want to.

Adds to the pleasure of watching the programmes
This is fascinating. Knowing more of the work that goes into producing the series makes it even more enjoyable, and helps me to appreciate the incredible talents of all those involved. Interesting information, lots of great illustrations and beautifully presented. I'm very happy with it.
