Just what I needed.
The Olympus OM D E-M10 mk iii is an excellent camera that can be as simple or as complex as you like. There are so many advanced features on this little camera that it is hard to get your head round them all. So this little book is exactly what I needed. It covers every aspect of the camera and explains them in simple detail without any embellishments and no "Big song and Dance routines"I would recommend this book to anyone who owns this camera. It is a very useful guide to all features.

Compact Info packed and intuitive
This book is ideal for users of the OMD E10 Mk 3 camera, particularly if you are a keen but not proficient hobby photographer like me.It explains the menu options clearly and comments on the value of options in the real world and offers the authors choice of menu options.Yes, there are a number of typos but nothing that affects the understanding of what is on offer.Every camera model should have one.

Great camera but the menus can be a bit mind ...
Wow, when you get bogged down in the menu of this camera, David's book gives you some insight on a way around it.Great camera but the menus can be a bit mind boggling.Read, save it to your phone or tablet and when a problem arises you have the solution at hand.

Simplified instruction books: Olympus Pen-F v Canon 5DMk. 2.
Whilst this is a descriptive book it is very helpful, but I felt that there should be many more diagrams in the pages rather than mainly text. Last year I obtained a similar book for my other camera, a Canon 5D Mk2, which is truly brilliant. Good descriptive text with lots of diagrams relating to what you see on the camera and what 'buttons to press'. Nice try on the Pen-F but a more illustrated book would be much more helpful. The Olympus Pen-F is a semi-professional camera - that doesn't mean that only semi-professional photographers will buy it.James F.

The online Manual isn't perfect but much better than this so called manual. Very poor!
With little or no photos of or visual material the explanations are text dense with too much explanation of basic concepts related to general photography. It is overpriced and although the online manual isn't perfect you can follow what is explained. I do not recommend this. Perhaps spend a bit more and get something which you can follow and be of use.

Easy to understand
I recently bought a superb Olympus Pen f digital camera but found the User Guide that came with the camera a little too technical for me to easily follow and work with. A bit of on-line research took me to 'The Olympus Pen F Menu System Simplified' which I decided to purchase. It has proved refreshingly simple to use and particularly easy to dip in and out of when necessary. Its even made the camera User Guide a little clearer to follow! AJL.

Helps explain the incomprehensible menus and manuals of Pen F
Japanese camera makers display an unfortunate cultural mismatch with customers in the US or Europe. They produce tiny jewel-like hardware miracles with a superabundance of bells and whistles - but seem incapable of explaining them in their manuals and instructional materials in a way Westerners can understand. My new Olympus Pen F sets some kind of record for miraculous hardware along with a confused and incomprehensible menu system - accompanied by poor manuals written in poor English. Annoying.David Thorpe earns a living by helping to explain the settings. His book is not perfect, but if it only gets me past one or two puzzles, it's well worth the few bucks it cost. Thank you.

Helped me get over the learning curve of Olympus Pen-F's complex menu system
The Olympus Pen-F is a "prosumer" camera, intended for middle level to advanced photographers. The Olympus Pen-F has a complex menu system that has a rather steep learning curve in order to master it.Having said that, the Pen-F's menu system is not needlessly complex. The menu is complex because it offers photographers advanced capabilities and enhanced creative control over the camera. To make full use of this expensive and amazing camera, it is necessary to have a reasonable grip on the menu system, which is accessed via the "Menu" button, the "OK" button (which brings up the quick menu), as well as other buttons, dials and levers on the camera.David Thorpe's book is written in a rather lucid fashion, not like a formal guide book. At the same time every menu feature is covered and adequately explained.I have one minor gripe with the book. Mr. Thorpe does not recommend using the 2X digital zoom feature. I tried it and found it works well for casual (jpeg) photography.Overall I highly recommend this book.

Perfectly Acceptable Help
I was hesitant to purchase this book as the reviews are not exactly stellar, however, after owning my digital Pen-f for almost a year and not being able to find any concise info how to get through the camera menu I figured it was worth a few dollars to see if this would be useful.Surprisingly, it is. While not very well written or presented it did give me the exact help I was looking for. Within minutes, I figured out how to find and set up several of the menu settings that had been baffling me for many months. and have a more complete understanding of the camera menu. For what this costs, it was well worth the money for my needs. I'd imagine if one is a complete novice it still may be a bit confusing but I already have a background in using DSLR's so was easily able to interpret the information and apply it as needed.
